Brian Dear@scalzi Just be grateful you weren’t in #NewMexico in May 2020, right in the middle of the COVID panic/lockdown, when billions of moths from Mexico flew all the way up to northern #NM and descended on towns like #SantaFe, invading every home and building. Imagine one’s living room and kitchen turned into the bad guy’s house from Silence of The Lambs… #moths EVERYWHERE. Some kind of climate change thing and it went on for DAYS. Downright biblical.
And this past week. . . they’re BACK. 👀😱
Matthew Bandy@brianstorms @scalzi I remember a #mothageddon year like that in Albuquerque - probably 2011. I think they’re army cutworm moths and you get huge emergences like this in wet years.
