A key part of the New York City mayoral races was Ranked Choice Voting.

I'm not seeing many news articles mention this yet (correct me if I'm wrong though!).

Ranked choice let's us vote first for who we actually want.... and then put in backup votes for "good enough" candidates and allows us to compromise and find common ground.

It destroys the concepts of "lesser of two evils" and "throwing away your vote".

I hope we see Ranked Choice voting everywhere.

- Remind them to ponder the question of "cui bono" -- who benefits from the narrative that "steam" is the "next big thing"? the answer: mostly filthy rich industrial tyrants, filthy rich iron founders, filthy rich colliery operators, and filthy rich London speculators.

Do your part to counter BS propaganda from industrialist scumbags.

- If you hear someone talking about how "steam" is going to change everything, treat them the same way you'd treat a mesmerist talking about whatever mesmerists believe in: it is BS cult nonsense for marks and rubes.

- No, "steam power" is not "inevitable." The noisy, clanking piston contraptions that are being positioned as the next big thing right now are inefficient curiosities, and not even profitable curiosities, and there's no path to develop them into anything else because that's just how they work.

Have The Talk with your friends:

- No, true mechanical automation isn't real now, nor is it just around the corner.

- We need laws to prevent factory barons using these engines to try to circumvent guild laws and honest labor; we don't need laws to stop "runaway iron golems" because that's penny dreadful BS with absolutely no bearing on reality.

We’ve had a Denisovan skull since the 1930s—only nobody knew

After years of mystery, we now know what at least one Denisovan looked like.

You want to talk about government efficiency? Every $1 spent on childhood immunizations in the US returns a savings of $11, thanks to preventing illnesses, and saving millions of lives.
Okay, ready to get my #Monsterdon on!

If there's anything that illustrated the hollowness of the Democratic Party as an effective opposition for me, it's this.

Yesterday, I watched a video of a sitting US Senator being thrown to the ground and cuffed by fed goons for asking questions of the fed official he has direct oversight authority over.

Within minutes, I'd gotten DOZENS of texts from Dems and Dem orgs asking for $5-$50 to "fight fascism."

That's it. "Are you terrified that your country is slipping into fascism? Pay me."
