What’s y’all’s favorite daily use sunscreen? The more it feels like lotion, and the less it feels like sunscreen, the better.
@rmondello the small white bottle blue label cerave

@rmondello I use this and it’s my favorite that I’ve found but I haven’t exhaustively searched and would love to hear what you find

@irace @rmondello does it irritate your eyes? I'm using this one from NIVEA, the skin doesn't get oily but it is not good to my eyes. I'll try one from La Roche Posay next...
@rmondello I bought some of the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid while on holiday in Aotearoa last summer and… it’s expensive but I don’t know I can go back. Even the other mid-range stuff I’d used before feels horrible by comparison.
@rmondello oh apparently this suggestion is useless because the FDA banned the chemical sunscreen approximately the entire world uses in 2006 for… unclear reasons? and hasn’t licensed anything new since 1999? so any new development like this is just… not available there
@rmondello I asked for advice a little while ago and got this recommendation, I love it - super light, but great protection.
@pamelarosiedee @rmondello not a huge sun screen connoisseur but I prefer sunbum esp if your going in the water since it doesn’t have Oxybenzone which kills the reef
@tbraun @rmondello I wear sunbum (the stick stuff) in the water and this for everyday -but if there is still environmental risk even doing that I would definitely want to know, thanks for bringing it up
@pamelarosiedee @rmondello Makes sense. Unfortunately don’t know enough about it (or wear enough of it tbh) 😁
@rmondello Biore Aqua Rich is the nicest, least gluggy facial sunscreen I’ve ever used.

@rmondello Apparently the European sunscreens are where it’s at, alas.

I use Supergoop! serum.

@rmondello I use this CeraVe oil free moisturizer that’s SPF 35 for my face, ears, and neck. I’ll often use a spray from Hawaiian Tropic (“weightless” or “everyday active”) or Neutrogena (“Ultrasheer”) for my body, but the CeraVe is way better from the neck up.

@joesteel @rmondello Did you mean Cetaphil, not CeraVe? Because that’s what the link goes to… (I’m a fan of the CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion, but should probably use something with sunblock as you say.)
@jeffy @rmondello Yes, I meant Cetaphil, I don’t know why my brain spit out CeraVe when I was typing.
@rmondello I’m trying this Banana Boat Light As Air right now from this review, and it’s pretty much just like they say below.
@rmondello I've been liking Neutrogena's products – RN using a low SPF / lotion combo and an SPF 120 sunscreen that still feels pretty great.

@rmondello My absolute fave (face only) - it’s a “water gel” serum so it pretty much dries totally on your face and there is no greasy residue or white streaks - also btw there are diminishing returns as the spf no. climbs and the biggest difference is between spf 10 and 20 while the difference is only marginal between 30 and 60 - so 35 is a totally perfect place to be

One thing I would recommend though is like an spf face mist for summer days as top up throughout the day

@rmondello 1. Jane Iredale dry sunscreen, which is the complete opposite of lotion but meets the "doesn't feel like sunscreen" requirement: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/jane-iredale-powder-me-spf-30-dry-sunscreen/5701955

2. This hat: https://www.etsy.com/listing/794374969/bolero-hat-the-mojave-black-vaquero

@rmondello i've been using a bottle of "aveeno positively radiant sheer daily moisturizer" which is spf 30. i've also been using it since like 2021, it's not even a big bottle i have no idea how it's lasted this long
@rmondello I use an Aveeno face lotion with sunscreen daily. They have 15 and 30 SPF varieties, and it’s easy to find at drug stores around here.
@rmondello I use this during the day - mostly just on my face. Really interesting Reddit post from a dermatologist about this topic a couple weeks ago - https://old.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/129ow2w/skincare_advice_for_men

@rmondello Neutrogena Ultra Sheer dry-touch broad spectrum spf 55.
Daily Facial Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 35 | Cetaphil US

This nourishing lightweight facial sunscreen moisturizer protects against UVA and UVB rays while providing immediate oil-free hydration that lasts for 24-hours.

@Antichrista Thank you for the recommendation, Christa!
@rmondello I can't stand the feel or smell of sunscreen, so I've bought several sunblock UPF 50 hooded, long-sleeve shirts, and use those whenever I go out into the sun instead.
@rmondello Look into Korean sunscreens. They use newer UV filters that the FDA hasn't approved yet and are far more cosmetically elegant than their western counterparts. This a very popular pick for many into skincare right now: https://beautyofjoseon.com/collections/shop-all/products/relief-sun-rice-probiotics-set-2pack?variant=41512163737765

@rmondello This is what I'm using for the body right now: https://bondisands.com/products/spf-50-fragrance-free-sunscreen-lotion
It isn't greasy or shiny at all for me and it soaks into the skin like a normal lotion would.

If you're not opposed to it, you can find both on Amazon or Walmart's website for very reasonable prices.
