I am making a story entirely out of duolingo sentences and would like to include as many languages as possible. Please share any screenshots you have like this that might plausibly slot into a murder mystery or are just generally amusing
@0xabad1dea Do they have to include English? I have some Catalan-Spanish ones that are wild and may fit
@worr unfortunately I don’t think I can expect the audience to be Catahispanlingual, but maybe the English could be added below…
@0xabad1dea @worr I mean yeah that would be good, because this one I feel could fit right in there
@0xabad1dea maybe I’m being dense, but how do you get it to give you sentences in that format?
@h0m54r (layout is probably a little different on android)
@0xabad1dea Ahh, thanks. I’ve never seen those buttons before because they’re right where I hover my fat thumb while waiting to tap Continue!
@0xabad1dea @h0m54r boring but probably useful
@0xabad1dea
You realise that if the Welsh learners hear about this, you're going to wind up with parsnips playing an improbably major role in the story?
(Though now I want to know if there are other languages where duolingo has a weird obsession with one word, be it a root vegetable or no...)
@tigerfort half the sentences in Latin are about drunk parrots. drunk parrots cavorting with Bacchus, hurling spears and burning down villas
@0xabad1dea
Here are a couple that might work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@0xabad1dea from my Swedish lesson just now.
Swedish is pretty good for getting crime drama stuff, presumably that's all the Larsson and Nesbø creeping in
@0xabad1dea Maybe you can work one or more of these in
@0xabad1dea (I did have several murder ones come up recently, but I didn't take screenshots. I'll grab them if they come up again)

@0xabad1dea hard to resist such a request... 😅

(The one with the drums really resonated with me because I couldn't help but think of Lord of the Rings "we hear drums, drums in the deep". 😁)

@0xabad1dea I don't know where the screen shot is but I've got one which is:

"Our son is a penguin" in Polish

"Nasze syn jest pingwinem"

@0xabad1dea Danish has many sentences about HC Andersen, ghosts and normal stuff about penguins opening businesses in the cold region. ^^
@0xabad1dea here’s one I got recently - perhaps this question could be part of an interrogation?
@0xabad1dea idk if these help but here are some (the last one is especially mysterious imo)
@0xabad1dea I anticipate this being no use whatsoever:
@0xabad1dea this could work for you! 🤩
@0xabad1dea Here’s some Hawaiian for you #DuoLingo
@0xabad1dea @kieran I’ve gotten this one half a dozen times.
