Any experienced programmer worth their salt will tell you that •producing• code — learning syntax, finding examples, combining them, adding behaviors, adding complexity — is the •easy• part of programming.
The hard part: “How can it break? How will it surprise us? How will it change? Does it •really• accomplish our goal? What •is• our goal? Are we all even imagining the same goal? Do we understand each other? Will the next person to work on this understand it? Should we even build this?”
Blatantly stolen, but absolutely accurate.

One thing that I will make clear is I never want a show or movie I'm watching to be interrupted by an ad *EVER* again, if I'm paying for it.
That's it. Just, NO. Fuck that. I will torrent everything if it means not seeing ad interruptions.
That was an artifact of a PAST era. Free over the air TV. It made sense to have ads to pay for the content, and that was acceptable.
But if I'm paying for it? HELL TO THE FUCKING NO. Shove it, streaming companies.
How about instead of harassing pirates, the content industry provide a better product? Instead they've been making it worse over the past few years.
$12.99 a month and it still has ads ain't it.
Transphobia increasingly functions as an assertion that individuals do not belong to themselves, but to an owning class.
While this class is often elided to "society" as a whole, it is in fact more representative of its rulers than of the population in general.
In 2020, Mozilla signed a deal with Google for them to pay $450 million a year until 2024 to be the default search engine. This is 50% higher than what Mozilla got from Google a decade ago, despite a shrinking market share for Firefox. To make it even more painfully obvious how much Mozilla gets from this, this money makes up roughly ninety percent of their income.
Oh, yes, did I mention this contract is due to be renewed in 2024? I wonder if that has any bearings on this AI push by Mozilla. I wonder if there’s a risk that the Google money will dry up?
Mozilla is desperate to divest its income stream because it is reliant on essentially being a controlled opposition to Chrome to survive.
“American National Group, plans to cease its homeowners insurance business in nine states, a move precipitated by declining profitability in those markets”
This is why for-profit insurance is such a crock… they will mine you for profit and as soon as you stop being profitable, they will take your premiums and run leaving you unprotected and offloading the cost onto society as a whole.
End private insurance.
