I think my #Twitter followers peaked at like 350, most of which were obvious bots ("hot" woman as a profile pic, 0 followers, 0 posts except a pinned link to fuck knows where, etc).
@grumpygamer So awesome to see you say this! The more I habituate myself to Mastodon, the more I admire, respect and believe in its decentralization mission and that it can be a viable alternative to the corporatization of web technologies and experiences (and a-hole billionaire takeovers).
Also, there's an amazing retro hardware/software and gaming community forming here!
@grumpygamer Did the same... but also had far less followers XD
But you're welcome around! so far, it's a good place to be in. Lots of love!

@grumpygamer THIS! 👆🙂
I switched to Mastodon as my main method of social interaction around the time Space Karen started unplugging servers like a madman. Forcing myself to use it (+follow as many interesting ppl as poss) made all the difference and TBH, I hardly miss it.
Thankfully, most of my mutuals are now here also, but not all. So sometimes, I don my wetsuit & dive back into the swamp just to do a quick catch-up (+support) the cool things my fellow creators have yet to post here. 😅
@grumpygamer this toot fell into my timeline via a Mastodon friend boosting this and
AAAAAHHHHHH.... you are here! *almost breaks her mouse from clicking follow so hard*
@grumpygamer yeah, i gave up 13,000 myself. and as a small fulltime indie dev who primarily relied on twitter to be seen and keep food on the table, that hurt *a lot*
but it still hurts less than contributing to elon musk's fascism generator
@djdesign @eniko @grumpygamer I had 25k when I left at the start of the year, and I have zero regrets.
Seeing the shitshow it's become has only reaffirmed my stance that Musk is a giant manbaby and sticking around wasn't worth it.
@grumpygamer Absolutely. A Vile little man.
I gave up 3k on the bird app. Not as much as you but a lot for me and totally worth it.
Also, it is possible to build followings on here. @thunderbird now has as many followers on here as it does on Twitter, for example.
@FediThing @grumpygamer It's also worth mentioning the engagement here is much more meaningful.
Ron, just be you, have some nice conversations, and use relevant hashtags whenever you can.
I never really got much engagement in the algorithmic world to give up really. The more they turned up the popularity-amplifiers the less I was heard by even my friends.
Frankly, fuck that.
