I gave up over a 150,000 followers on Twitter to be on Mastodon full time. Yes, the engagement and reach is a lot less, but I'll build it back up and it will be worth it. I hate to see people run back to Twitter because of friends or careers or whatever. You know what changes that? Being on Mastodon and bring those people here. Musk is a horrible person, don't be one of his enablers.

@grumpygamer yeah, i gave up 13,000 myself. and as a small fulltime indie dev who primarily relied on twitter to be seen and keep food on the table, that hurt *a lot*

but it still hurts less than contributing to elon musk's fascism generator

@eniko @grumpygamer the "we will use your tweets to train another LLM" has me feeling a lot better about the decision. I'd delete my old tweets if I thought they weren't already part of the training data.

@djdesign @eniko @grumpygamer I had 25k when I left at the start of the year, and I have zero regrets.

Seeing the shitshow it's become has only reaffirmed my stance that Musk is a giant manbaby and sticking around wasn't worth it.

@xavierck Honestly, and I know this points to my own weakness of character, I'd be here full time but the level of train wreck over there is just impossible for me to not gawk at.
