Hearing young people not understand Matrix references makes me want to buy investment properties and suppress the vote
@SwiftOnSecurity Up to us elders to teach them and show them the way.
@SwiftOnSecurity I am sure some Richy Richy dude is already doing that, atleast at some small scale..
@SwiftOnSecurity My philosophy prof friends in the 2000s-2010s: It's so annoying how every 101 class I teach descends into a solipsistic morass of Matrix references.
My philosophy prof friends now: It's weird how none of my students gets my Matrix references anymore.
@SwiftOnSecurity Post 9/11 stupid flying related security theater is now old enough to drink.
@kilpatds @SwiftOnSecurity I hate that #SecurityTheater because it insults my intellect and is on the same level as 3rd party #Antivirus aka. #DigitalSnakeoil on #Windows!

@kkarhan @SwiftOnSecurity I have semi-mixed feelings about security theater. When the need is publicity, security theater is a solution.

Keeping it for 20 years as if it actually does something though? That ... that bugs me.

Welcome to the "for the children" ratchet, where restrictions can never be removed because of "risk", but new restrictions can always be added for reasons.

@kilpatds @SwiftOnSecurity Personally, I hate all this bs actionism since it really boils down into normalizing facist structures and Modi Operandi.

> 20 years after 9/11 I want my human and civil rights back to the status-quo before!!!

@SwiftOnSecurity Taaaay I know the breakup affected you, buuut.. šŸ˜‚
@SwiftOnSecurity how is your golf game these days?
@SwiftOnSecurity I've stopped using references older than 10 years when trying to explain something. That seems to be the cutoff.

@SwiftOnSecurity

"There is no spoon."

Uh?

@darryl_ramm @SwiftOnSecurity I guess ā€œthe cake is a lieā€ is also too old
@SwiftOnSecurity that sounds like someone who tried to hit, rather than hitting
@SwiftOnSecurity wait, are you saying when Millennial’s get money they will act like Boomers?
@SwiftOnSecurity think that’s bad? You should have seen the looks when I suggested we round evey transaction down and then deposit the difference in a secret bank account.
@SwiftOnSecurity I force my children to watch 'cultural education'. Matrixes. Die Hards. Sound of Music. Borats. Found out they think Boss Hogg must be some NPC. So...add the Dukes to the list.
@hal8999 @SwiftOnSecurity I know Dukes of Hazzard mostly because my husband watched it. He’s GenX and I’m a Millennial.
@SwiftOnSecurity That’s the reason we scorch the sky in 100 years

@SwiftOnSecurity I envy them getting to learn about it for the first time all over again! That was quite the experience when it first came out.

Also they can be one of the lucky 10,000: https://xkcd.com/1053/

@SwiftOnSecurity I raised my kids on the Matrix. Does this make me a cultural grandparent or something?

@SwiftOnSecurity

Farbs Jr, playing Half Life, as The G-Man appears:
Hey Dad it's Neo!

@SwiftOnSecurity is this why it's called being "redpilled"

@SwiftOnSecurity The Maalox.

Take the red pill. And the blue pill. And these two white pills. And this gel cap. And this fiber supplement. And use this strip to check your glucose. Now let's talk about topical ointments.

@SwiftOnSecurity I also feel like crowded out of discourses for being too old...
— wait.
@SwiftOnSecurity kids this days don't even know their eigenvalues!
@SwiftOnSecurity And which movie reference we didn’t get back then from the middle-aged (ā€œoldā€) people? 2001? Soylent Green? Metropolis?
@SwiftOnSecurity
I feel the same way when I make a Man From U.N.C.L.E. reference and nobody gets it.
