It looks like Twitter is *globally* withholding a tweet in response to a legal demand in India. This is a disaster for free speech online. Indian law dictating social media speech rules globally—a worst case scenario for free speech and content moderation. https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/twitter-takes-down-post-on-home-minister-globally/article66711854.ece
Twitter takes down post on Home Minister globally

In an apparent first, Twitter appears to have withheld a tweet globally in response to a “legal demand” in India.

I sincerely hope this was a mistake or oversight that's swiftly addressed because, if not, it will be open season for governments that want to abuse legal demands to censor their critics on Twitter worldwide.
As I wrote last month, Midjourney AI has already signaled it will allow China's speech restrictions to dictate its global moderation rules. Will we see the same with India and Twitter now? What else will be next? https://www.techdirt.com/2023/03/31/midjourney-ceo-says-political-satire-in-china-is-pretty-not-okay-but-apparently-silencing-satire-about-xi-jinping-is-pretty-okay/

@sarahemclaugh being on twitter, or paying attention to its compromised site is a worst than a waste of time.
Musk is a right wing creep, cozying up the the criminals, trump and the lying republicans, putin and his war machine.
Just leave. Just ignore. Let him burn his money. What a foul creep.
@davidfowler it’s not a waste of time to pay attention to serious free speech issues arising on a site that’s still widely used. Just because some people leave twitter doesn’t mean it no longer has any importance or relevance in the world.
