My legacy check is gone.
I'm done with Twitter.
My legacy check is gone.
I'm done with Twitter.
I've always thought of clocks as a sign of the times..
@danr I hope so, but I don't see a reason for them to โ yet.
I've lost trust with the platform (which is saying a lot, considering Twitter's history) and it just doesn't deserve my attention when there are other more genuine initiatives underway. Mastodon is one, T2 is another, and even Bluesky is interesting.
I dunno, there's a new sherif in Twitter Town and I can't abide how he's laying down some new form of inscrutable law.
@chrismessina @danr Starting this month, I also decided to give Mastodon a spin because of the general feeling of instability on Twitter.
Banning links to other social networks (Mastodon, Substack) was a big mistake from Twitter, I think.
When finally the bird was replaced by a dog, and even Twitter OAuth had intermittent failures, I was convinced that things were going downhill.
So unhappy because I have been on Twitter since 2009. Quite happy here now! ๐
@chrismessina Ahah! Yes, please & thank you!
@chrismessina Maybe if you had contributed something meaningful to the Twitter experienโฆ
๐ฌ Nevermind.
@patrick_h_lauke it was a culmination of six months of chicanery.
The metaphor of the last straw refers to a breaking point, not an isolated cause.
@mcelhearn @craiggrannell @mlabowicz it was arbitrary, but yes, just like 212 degrees is the boiling point of water:
I don't care about the checkmark but I can't stay on Twitter in good faith or in self-integrity with the chaotic and unclear direction of the platform or how its most prolific users are being abused.
I choose to apply my efforts elsewhere.
Unceremoniously losing my checkmark is the clearest indicator that I don't matter to the people in charge.
@chrismessina
Gutting staff + adding trolls + boosting hate + selling checkmarks = time to quit Twitter
Sounds like a good call.
Be sure to deactivate your account.

I was done with them in October when elmo came in and instantly started to support nazis and said he was all in for DeathSantis 24.
A missing checkmark in April is good too...
@mlabowicz no, it was the straw that broke my camel's back.
I don't care about the checkmark but I can't stay on Twitter in good faith or in self-integrity with the chaotic and unclear direction of the platform or how its most prolific users are being abused.
I choose to apply my efforts elsewhere.
Yeah, you'll be happier here... less nazis and rambling morons who claim they invented electric cars and rockets when they didn't.
@docpop @chrismessina same. I guess it goes away on 4/20
Maybe
Probably
But probably not
