Over on the bad site, Twitter has lifted restrictions on Kremlin accounts and is no longer limiting the reach of Kremlin media accounts.

Russian government tweets are appearing in Twitter’s algorithmically-driven “For You” feed for newly created accounts, even when they did not follow them. So Twitter is not just *showing* these Kremlin accounts — it's algorithmically *boosting* them.

Putin's Twitter account resurfaces as Russia comes in from the cold

Elon Musk’s social media site lifts restrictions on Kremlin-linked tweets

The Telegraph

This comes just after Twitter made part of its source code public, revealing that it has apparently been suppressing Ukrainian content.

So Twitter is boosting Kremlin content while suppressing pro-Ukraine content. #russia #ukraine #socialmedia #propaganda

@rvawonk Musk is a traitor! He is working to destroy our democracy. Get off that hell site!

@6thbrick @rvawonk

And he's a naturalized citizen of the US. He could be stripped of his citizenship.

@6thbrick @rvawonk

It would be an interesting list of anti-immigrant immigrants, eh?

Elon Musk
Peter Thiel
Rupert Murdoch
Melania Trump

@tasket @6thbrick @rvawonk On the American right, it would be easier to produce a list of people who aren't anti-immigrant.

@tasket @6thbrick @rvawonk

Can we throw in an entire neighborhood like Sunny Isles Fl?
🇷🇺

@6thbrick @rvawonk I think this underscores my decision to think of anyone still on Twitter as a gullible moron at best
@6thbrick @rvawonk Why is anyone still on it?!
@rvawonk by orders from the fuhrer no doubt.
@rvawonk Ridiculous how Elon has escalated trolling the libs from the sociopolitical level to the nation-state/ NATSEC level.
@rvawonk to my understanding, it wasn't entirely clear what that Ukraine keyword really represented and could have been a label for propaganda posts regarding the war. Unless more information has become available regarding that list of keywords?
@Litis @rvawonk At this point, has Musk done anything that earns him the benefit of the doubt?
@tob @rvawonk Well, I wouldn't have assumed that was Musk's doing, but instead legacy code. Some of those other keywords are definitely not put in place by mr free speech.

@tob
He's Musk. Most others would have escorted off premise, cuffed, some time ago.

But he still have his fan boys. Still have people who clean up behind him.
@Litis @rvawonk

@Litis @rvawonk
This was discussed on the April 3 episode of the Moderated Content podcast (Evelyn Douek, Alex Stamos and guest Sol Messing). They agreed that it was about many kinds of controversial content, not just Ukraine. Also, they said it only applied to Twitter Spaces.
@rvawonk
"Free speech" is a copyrighted trademark of Muskisafascist and may not be used or expressed in any way without the algorithmic consent of the above
@rvawonk What do you expect from a social media for racist traitors?
@rvawonk if any American needed a reason to leave the bird site this should be it. You cannot be pro russia and wave the American flag from your truck.
@rvawonk Not shocked, so evil and gross.

@rvawonk

Putin's $1000/mo. seems like one of the cheaper ways to own a billionaire.

#sarcasm

@rvawonk And some people who should know better continue to feed the bird…
@rvawonk I missed that link to suppressing Ukrainian content. Thanks for the information! Let me check your feed for links...
@rvawonk It would be a good time for the US government to investigate Musk for breaking sanctions. Include all his companies, include SpaceX.
@rvawonk
And people are crying because it's going down in flames.
They should be celebrating.
@jeber @rvawonk The quicker the better, as always in war.
@rvawonk
Anyone still providing content to that foul site is helping to prop up that Nazi's platform in my opinion.
@rvawonk
I wonder how long before screenshots of Mastodon posts will be flagged and blocked by ELoon and his minions.
@rvawonk it looked to me (admittedly not a coder) that the Twitter code was suppressing the term "Ukraine", rather than Ukrainian sources. Which would equally affect Ukrainian and Russian sources. No?
@rvawonk @potus shut down twitter. arrest Musk for propaganda and acting as a Russian combatant.

@rvawonk The site should not interfere with preferences, not support , or support..

Nor should it be blocked. This is fediverse's philosophy, so although it is Twitter's behavior for another reason perhaps, we should not oppose it.

@rvawonk which makes Twitter a propagandist apparently controlled by the Kremlin. #GTTO
@rvawonk are you fucking serious?
@rvawonk: How is Kremlin paying them without violating the sanctions? This should be investigated!
@rvawonk you need to get prominent #ukraine analysts to set up a server here as a powerful source of news. #Twitter is evil. Cc @ChristopherJM @Euan_MacDonald @PStyleOne1 @anneapplebaum
@rvawonk Why does anyone still look at twitter?
@rvawonk one of the most evil in appearance pics of putin
@rvawonk This is beyond infuriating. 😠
@rvawonk Surprise, surprise. Nazi Musk’s in Putin’s pocket. Color me shocked.
@rvawonk the government needs to seize Twitter by eminent domain
@rvawonk aiding an international criminal is aiding and abetting right?
@rvawonk I don't know. I'm no expert, but this feels dangerous 😐
@rvawonk Twitter is becoming a place where I argue. Mastodon is where I'm with friends
@rvawonk Wait... So, the actual Kremlin has free reign, but NPR is flagged as state-controlled media? Do I have that right?

@rvawonk

Media outlets, journalists, politicians, …: this is fine (we will (or will not) pretend to be shocked, though)

/cc @Sicherheitspod @dennishorn @gavinkarlmeier

@rvawonk

I'm going to ask a question that some may not like...but should anything be suppressed at all?
So massive? Hopefully we are not all so stupid to believe any crap and let us so mislead?
Influence no matter in which direction are wrong!
Our thoughts are free and should not be influenced by anyone.

@si_irini @rvawonk check the world wars. Your hope is sadly not the case.
@rvawonk Again I say, Twitter should be stripped of its Section 230 protection.
@rvawonk
Block, block blockety block - better yet, Move to the Elephant
@rvawonk
I see Twitler is on his way to making  profitable. But at what cost?
