Alberta Energy Regulator issues environmental protection order after earthquake study finds industry link

A joint study from the University of Alberta and Stanford University found an industry link between in situ bitumen recovery and the earthquakes that shook the Peace River region last November.

@msquebanh They *what* now? Sheesh.

First they inject water into the ground to get the oil/gas OUT, then they take the wastewater from THAT and inject it back into the ground in some different place? And in both locations injecting crap into the ground causes groundwater contamination and earthquakes?

How bout we just stop injecting crap into the ground please?

@tezoatlipoca Yeah...a 5.6 level earthquake. #KillTheDrills
