@aleen This Chris Ridell drawing feels apropos.
image description: Drawing of a murderbot with the message, "KiLLBOTS Want Peace too" in large letters. In smaller letters underneath, "but programs must complete."
@aleen @JuliusGoat @Johannab see also this bit from Umberto Eco’s Ur-Fascism essay (but ofc @JuliusGoat has the more elegant turn of phrase)

Now is the Time
#Resist
@aleen @JuliusGoat Declare a problem and offer a solution. That's how politics works. Usually that problem is an innocent minority that cannot defend itself and then gets trampled.
Britain 1981 - The unemployed are lazy skivers and the cause of the country's woes.
Britain 1984 - The coal miners are the scum of the earth and the enemy of the people.
Britain 1990 - Single mothers are Satanic baby producing leeches on society.
America 2022 - trans gender are pedophiles, bathroom degenerates and corrupting out children.
That's how politics works. Republican and Democrat alike.
@aleen @JuliusGoat
Exactly.
As Jon Stewart once said of Sarah Palin after making anti-Muslim statements, "You know she's got a shopping list."
Trans people are "testing the waters." They don't care about us, not really. Not more than any other group they hate and want to eradicate from "their" America. But we're a fine bellwether. We're small enough, and their hate campaigns have been successful enough to where people won't really care about us until we're all gone. And then they'll soon forget us.
From there, it goes right back into the rest of the queer community, then probably Muslim folks, immigrants, esp from South America and Africa/Middle East, and it just rapidly goes from there to everyone else. You can do the math.
@aleen @JuliusGoat i have absolutely no doubt that kavanaugh will jump at the chance to author an originalist return to "separate but equal" based on 17th century legal scholarship.
A court built to eat rights won't stop until it runs out of rights.
If you are into games, check out Horizon: Zero Dawn it's about robots that do that very thing. Only it's all biomass.
