Q.: has anyone benefitted from #brexit?

Well it seems that #vegetable growers in #Morroco have gained new/expanded market(s) in the UK... with the country rapidly rising to be the third (by value) exporter of veg to the UK (after Spain & the Netherlands)..... I suppose its an ill wind that blows no good

👆 Ans: Yes...the "U"K🇬🇧 #SmallerEnglishEmpire is securely on a path to dissolution, and we all benefit from that!

It's the one-and-only benefit from #Brexit (and was entirely unintended).

I really hope not. I understand the nationalism that serves to divide.
The very point of the EU to prevent war.
Not a popular concept with despots RW ideologues unfortunately.

That's a thought. Respectfully not one I would support where nationalism is the cause to join a union founded in spite of it.

The problem isn't flags - it's the cultures that were never democratic that fly them. That's a huge problem. I'm sure I'm going to get flogged for this.

My cultural heritage is mixed in my family to see in 3 generations in my life and further as partnered. Part Indian, part Welsh, part Cornish and part English to love a Brasileiro...

'de-facto colonialism' isn't quite the case though, is it?
This is my point re 'nationalism' and flags.
How far back do we go to be a true Scot - whatever that is as Celts, Picts etc and not get on with making our World work?

I hate what the tories have turned the UK into. Just look at the issues with NI. How is an independent Scotland going to fair better.

@mrjonno @fencoul @ChrisMayLA6 too late. I no longer have any emotional connection to the U.K. My country is Scotland and I only care about our residents and our future. Independence is normal and it is both lazy and misinformed to call it nationalism. British Nationalism is the cause of ills globally. Westminster is England centric & always will be. My days of defending or supporting anything British are long gone.

@lassielmr @mrjonno @fencoul @ChrisMayLA6 I personally think there should be a equal states type arrangement, where all parties of the UK are equal, and big decisions that effect all nations are voted on with each country entitled to a veto. Similar to the EU set up. I think we're stronger together. I completely understand why Scotland wants to be independent however. It's a natural reaction to what they have now and for the last few hundred years.

Hear, hear! I believe this is best served by #pr (proportioanal representation) The Labour Party canvassers I had recently agreed.
PR is about democray and debating issues rather than doing ideology and fat cat profit.
Hopefully augmented by #people and focus groups.

👆 Wanting to escape a de-facto colonial oppressor (🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿Westminster in this case) isn't "nationalism" as such. Next you'll be saying that the #BritishEmpire should never have "lost" its colonies to independence. It's no different.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 does not 'own' 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 or N🇮🇪. If they want to leave "our precious union" (©TheresaMay) then they should.

@fencoul i was thinking about spanish case, 40 years of Vasc ETA terrorist and we had just inagurated democracy and it was done in an autonomy system like a federation, each community has it's laws, both official languages if it's the case, like mine, now Cataluña, sorry it's different for u, different sitiation didn't mean to offend

..., love a Pole, a Scot, a Kashmiri, a Greek as significant relationships - and an Englishman, English/Asian.

I'm grateful for the education the UK afforded me and the opportunities to understand that people make our World and we can all find love - despite flags.

I do get the born, bred and thinks a trip to the City is huge deal for footie and fight - I know this mentality to my cost but would hope we can do global by now in 2023.

👆 Personally I'd go for a bit of both as the purity of the green/environmental one alone wouldn't get traction on its own; with a longer-term shift toward green...
