„Alfredo Cospito, Genosse und Anarchist, wurde im April 2012 zu lebenslänglicher Haft ohne Bewährung verurteilt. Seitdem sitzt er im Gefängnis und befindet sich seit Mai 2022 in #Italien in #Isolationshaft. Davon verbrachte er sechs Monate im Hungerstreik, um auf die desaströsen Zustände des Artikels 41-bis Regimes aufmerksam zu machen.

Bereits seit der Einführung des 41-bis Regimes 1986 gibt es zahlreiche Aufschreie aus Menschenrechtsorganisationen wie Amnesty International. Befürworter des 41-bis Regimes drängten den damaligen Justizminister Italiens jegliche Korrensbondez von Gefangenen mit Menschenrechtsorganisationen, Strafverteidiger*innen und dem Europäischen Gerichthofs zu zensieren....“

‚Alfredo Cospito is an anarchist comrade jailed since 2012, initially arrested and sentenced (along with another comrade) for kneecapping the CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare. He has served his sentence for that crime (the other comrade is now free), but he is currently serving a 23-year sentence issued in the “Scripta Manent” trial. This was a repressive operation against 20 years of FAI/FRI actions. Comrade Anna Beniamino is also serving a 17-year sentence for this repressive operation.

In May 2022, he was placed in 41 bis, a “harsh prison” regime invented in the ’90s to psychologically annihilate mafia “chiefs” and force them to cooperate. It is now extended to over 700 prisoners, including members of revolutionary groups such as BR-PCC. In October 2022, Alfredo began a six-month hunger strike against the 41-bis regime and life sentences without parole, his likely fate according to the terrorism and political massacre charges…‘

Cospito told legal counsel that he had seen on the sheet taped to the machine that monitors him the change in his heart values. Cospito on Friday will be connected by videoconference with the hearing in which the Supervisory Court is to decide on his petition for house arrest for health reasons at his sister's home."

"Seit dem 20. Oktober letzten Jahres befindet sich der Anarchist Alfredo Cospito im Hungerstreik. Cospito war im Mai 2022 in die sogenannte 41bis-Haft verlegt worden, eine extreme Form der Isolationshaft, bei der die Gefangenen 22 Stunden am Tag allein sind und nur eine Stunde im Monat Besuch empfangen dürfen. Zudem ist der Zugang zu Literatur oder sonstigem Material aus der Außenwelt extremst eingeschränkt.
Die italienischen Gerichte lehnten trotz Aufrufen hunderter Anwälte und Organisationen wie Amnesty International jegliche Lockerung seiner Haftbedingungen ab. Am 21. März erlitt Cospito einen Herzstillstand, konnte anschließend aber wieder stabilisiert werden. Zuvor hatte er bereits erklärt:

Respinto ricorso Cospito,resta a 41 bis 16.45 Il Tribunale di Sorveglianza di Roma ha respinto l'istanza di revoca anticipata del 41 bis, presentata dalla difesa di Alfredo Cospito. La Direzione nazionale Antimafia e Antiterrorismo aveva dato parere favorevole alla cessazione del carcere duro per Cospito, detenuto nel carcere di Sassari. Nei mesi scorsi l'anarchico aveva messo in atto lo sciopero della fame contro il regime di carcere duro.
