If you think measuring success by how many gum balls you can fit in your mouth is ludicrous, then I implore you to consider that many people think stuffing as much money in their bank accounts as they can before they die is a perfectly acceptable measure of success.
@professorkiosk
Some of them also want high view counts.
@professorkiosk I'm sure the Republican comeback to your comment would be...we're hording our money for the future generations of our kids & grandkids.
Of course ALL at the expense of our Democracy & while shitting on our environment. Some legacy for future generations. #DystopianSociety
But, hey, they'll have money.
@NYTupelo7 I can’t say I disagree with any of what you’ve said
@NYTupelo7 @professorkiosk in my opinion, if one dies after living a pleasant life and they have less than $100 left in their name, they have won the game of life.
@patricklee @professorkiosk
To the RICH & GREEDY, a "pleasant" life means rolling in their money, no matter how they got it...or STOLE it.
Health? They only care about their own.
Education? They try to dumb it down to cultivate Republican mindsets.
Economy? They cut taxes for the rich increasing America's debt, but blame a crumbling economy on Democrats EVERY damn time.
Infrastructure? Deregulate big industries, polluting the air & causing accidents by cutting corners to save THEM money.
@professorkiosk is it okay if i save as much money as i can to live comfortably in retirement while donating to charities, giving some to my kids and, now that you've pout the idea into my head, buying gumballs in bulk
@MikeyMcFilms Do what makes you happy, unless making others suffer is what makes you happy

@professorkiosk

well said

i've gotten to the age where if i don't like people, i just steer clear of them

going out to buy gumballs today, though
will send pictures

@professorkiosk There is an old saying about there being no pockets in shrouds.
@IndyRichard I hadn’t heard that before but it’s definitely apt here

@professorkiosk @donmelton I can’t help but feel this is both scathing social commentary… and an actual challenge.

I would take you up on it… but our employer cut our dental benefit.

(Not true… but it works better as a joke if it were so)

@professorkiosk Something about the current moment encourages a hoarding mentality in folks.
@professorkiosk
Hoarding resources, including money, is hoarding. THIS is the true biblical sin referred to by gluttony. The 1% are gluttons.
@professorkiosk I accidentally taught my son the value of money using gumballs when he was little. He knew he could get 4 gumballs for $1. When we saw a car for sale on a walk he said, "Dad, that car costs $9,700." I asked him how many gumballs that was. I saw him do the math. Then I saw him get mad about it. Then he walked over to the car and started yelling, "You're a stupid car and no one is EVER going to buy you!"
@professorkiosk Not only that, but many people who do it seem to believe that they are fundamentally better people than people whose bank accounts are empty.
@professorkiosk best analogy I've heard on this!!
