TFW people ask you if you watched that new show yet and you’re like, no I’ve been rewatching shows I’ve seen a million times because they’re like a warm, comforting hug, and I’m not emotionally equipped to take on new info at this time.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Look, the first season of The Newsroom gives me hope. Don't judge me, OK?
@Maitai @OhNoSheTwitnt Buffy is my go to as well. Also The Americans (currently on third rewatch).
@sheepchase @OhNoSheTwitnt I cannot go through the ending of The Americans again 😳
Even though it's fantastic, especially the music.

@Maitai @OhNoSheTwitnt Heart-wrenching isn’t it! But rare to have a satisfying ending of a show.

Have you seen Halt and Catch fire? That’s also really high on my list and ends well.

@sheepchase @OhNoSheTwitnt I've never heard of it! But I will add it to the list of things to watch. Currently in the process of introducing my kid to star trek, so that will be a while 😁

@Maitai @OhNoSheTwitnt Ah it’s great.

Oh, well yeah that’s going to take up some time! Starting with TNG?

@sheepchase @OhNoSheTwitnt exactly. We skipped S1, and now somewhere in S3 she is really starting to enjoy it 😊

@Maitai @OhNoSheTwitnt Good call!!

I did a full watch a few years ago (bought the DVDs) and S1 was… not good. Happy she’s getting into it, it’s excellent isn’t it.

@OhNoSheTwitnt

Of course I'm not starting another viewing of the BBC Pride and Prejudice, and no you can't look at my recently played videos.

@OhNoSheTwitnt Currently on our ????? Friends rewatch.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Oh God - that is SOOOO me and my husband!
@OhNoSheTwitnt I just finished watching the entire Star Trek TNG series and now I want to just start over again. Again. Might do MASH, though.
@OhNoSheTwitnt At first I thought this was a subtweet of folks disinclined to overcome the inertia preventing them from migrating to Mastodon. 😃
@OhNoSheTwitnt In a not too distant future…
@OhNoSheTwitnt
Also goes for books. I'm happy to spend more time in The Shire, Tigana, and that mysterious monastery with library maze.
@OhNoSheTwitnt yes! Thank you for this toot! It sums up my state perfectly!!
@OhNoSheTwitnt Stressed about being behind/not watching stuff I'll *probably* like (Andor, The Witcher) so I'm...re-watching Lie to Me.
@TheTick @OhNoSheTwitnt Such a good choice. I hate that there aren’t more. It was on my rewatch rotation as well!
@Ziagrrrl it was interesting to go back and see a bunch of actors on it "before they were famous", like Mahershala Ali, Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, David Harbour
@TheTick Yes! Often I’d watch the episode with that nagging feeling that I know them from somewhere else but can’t..quite..remember…then I look on IMDB. Conversely, I was watching Law and Order (original flavor) and saw a very young Kelli Williams as one of the victims of a crime.

I’m re-reading favorite fanfics* instead of watching new shows for the exact same reason…

(OK… sometimes I’ll watch a new episode of an extant show just to shorten the list on my DVR. But they’re still the characters in know.)

@OhNoSheTwitnt I don’t even watch the shows any more, just the YouTube highlight reels. I never even watched Parks & Rec when it was on the air but I know as much about Ron Swanson as anyone now
@OhNoSheTwitnt just me watching Bake Off until the end of time
@OhNoSheTwitnt My comfort show is still #Castle 🥰
@OhNoSheTwitnt Wednesday on Netflix is a new take on the old Munsters concept 😏
@OhNoSheTwitnt That's because what passes for shows nowadays is terrible. Instead of coming up with new stuff old IPs are being "reimagined" and not in the good way like BSG was. Still there are some gems, The Peripheral if you are into Gibson. Reacher, Terminal List, The Recruit, Jack Ryan S3. Watch what makes you feel good.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Yeah, oi. I’ve been on a Simpsons kick for many many months for just that reason.

@OhNoSheTwitnt

agreed, but also their modern renewed transformations a la The Legend of Vox Machina and Leverage: Redemption.

@OhNoSheTwitnt Sometimes you want an old bathrobe.
@OhNoSheTwitnt I’m not alone in this? I haven’t been able to watch new shows or movies in ages. I’ve tried, my brain is painfully uncomfortable. I need predictability and consistency in at least one place, and that’s the one I can control. So nice to know I’m not all by myself.

@OhNoSheTwitnt

that is what we do. I've seen a lot of really good series, but my girlfriend has not seen many due to her owning a restaurant for 13 yrs working long hrs. So, we stream them, and she loves the shows so much, and I don't mind saying stuff like, "Oh, boy, I remember this part." carry on

@OhNoSheTwitnt Yeah, once I found out that Night Court was streaming, I knew I was doomed. (Though Mrs. Brown's Boys is new to me, but it has that same "comforting" feel)
@OhNoSheTwitnt now try explaining that you don't watch TV at all. "Oh, but you'd love this one," as if the impediment was good programming rather that just not finding TV interesting at all.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Yes. My life. Seek comfort where you can these days while the world is going to hell. Coco.
@OhNoSheTwitnt Inquiring minds want to know, have you been spying on my prime video account?
