The existence of the #melbourne TramBoat makes me happy
For those of you outside Melbourne, this is a city circle tram
@joannaholman I love it! But also, it looks like it's from 1965 Japan. That's how old most of the commuter trains are in Los Angeles. Surprisingly old, no?
@perlman most of our trams are quite modern but they run a couple of older ones that look like that. They’re free, run a tourist friendly route around the city, have old fashion interiors and play announcements of facts about the city

@joannaholman Old #Melbourne #trams also run on the working/commuter tram lines in San Francisco. I think they changed their trucks (if that’s the term for the under carriage to run on the same gauge) in order to have this moving world museum of old trams. I loved it!

(I remember a sign inside the San Fran tram about paying your fare with, ‘It’s the law NOT just a good idea!’ written underneath. I use that line all the time with my kids now. 😀)
#SanFrancisco

@impossibleblue that’s so cool! The city circle trams wouldn’t work great for ordinary commuting but it’s so fun to be able to step on a bit of history occasionally
@joannaholman How have I never heard of this before??
@erkpod Never seen it in the city portion of the yarra, only down in dockland. It’s usually parked around here
@joannaholman It must have been hiding when I went through there last year. But I'll certainly be looking out for it next time I'm down there!
@joannaholman This is so cool. I did not know it existed.
@joannaholman Just like the Toronto ones but in a sleek bungalow style.
@joannaholman 😍 I’m hoping this is not just some Photoshop trickery!
@impossibleblue it’s entirely real, I saw it while walking in docklands yesterday

@joannaholman is this real or some AI's imaginings?

I've never heard of this before.

@pewnack it’s entirely real, I saw it while walking in docklands yesterday
@joannaholman where is this!?? My 6 year old would love this!
@milligna both times I’ve seen it it’s been docked on the north side of docklands marina. You might not be able to get as close as I did- the pier is sometimes closed
