I have a pretty weird commute.
@marcoarment - As long as you don’t succumb to Order 66, you’ll be fine.
@marcoarment After hearing about this so many times on ATP, neat to see it.
@marcoarment and every car person is cringing over the combination of sand and saltwater your barreling through :)
@darxmac @marcoarment not “every” car person — a French car owner will appreciate the utilitarian consumption of a vehicle’s lifespan. It was born to do a job and it will die doing its job. Cars are tools, not jewels.
@whophd @darxmac @marcoarment I think the lifeguard at the Bay of Biscay used (still use?) old 4WD Ladas https://flic.kr/p/eWa7jy

@whophd @marcoarment “car people” in this context are people that wash their cars with two buckets ;)
@whophd @darxmac @marcoarment
Aluminum body so less risk of corrosion.
@marcoarment Someone should make an app to track driving conditions on the island 🏝️ 🚗 🙃

@marcoarment I'm sure you already know this, but make sure you wash that salt off as soon as possible after any beach drives. Murder for the undercarriage.

Cool stuff though. We can all be jealous!

@cmb @marcoarment You should always keep your undercarriage squeaky clean!
@marcoarment on the corner of ocean view and plesantville nice spot!
@marcoarment Very nice to have an actual image to the whole “drive on the sand” stories.
@marcoarment it might be weird but it’s also awesome. 🤩
@marcoarment a. So cool b. It looks like you’re going quite fast, I wouldn’t have imagined it was possible…
@cdf1982 @marcoarment On Fraser Island in Queensland the tourists and locals all drive at a freeway speed — unless there’s a little stream every couple of minutes, which is like a speed bump
@whophd @cdf1982 @marcoarment When we were on Fraser in 2020, on a tour vehicle from the resort, a tourist came barreling over the sand and crashed into us. We were fine. His vehicle - not so much.
@BrettEGreenleaf @cdf1982 @marcoarment I'd love to see a Tesla try beach driving on FSD
@whophd @BrettEGreenleaf @cdf1982 My Tesla can’t even maintain basic Autopilot in the rain, or while passing a highway rest stop with a low speed limit posted in its off-ramp.

@marcoarment @BrettEGreenleaf @cdf1982 And what did you think I meant by "I'd love to see"

Actually it'd be mostly harmless — no other objects to damage

@marcoarment looks fun - where’s the watch???
@marcoarment If by weird you mean wonderful, then absolutely
@marcoarment Is it a commute when your office is in your house? 🧐
@marcoarment Perfect material for a meditative driving game.
@marcoarment this looks fun/terrifying. I don’t know why I’d ever be near Long Island, but if I am I may try to convince you to take me on a ride 😂
@collin @marcoarment yeah, something about this feels like nightmare fuel.
@marcoarment I have just the right music for this:

@marcoarment Fair enough, that looks like great fun and I’m incredibly jealous. 🙂
@marcoarment I think we need a dash cam Timelapse of the whole beach drive
@marcoarment weird is totally the wrong word. Your commute is awesome! Super fun
@marcoarment weird, but bloody amazing!
@marcoarment dang, y’all have dirty highways there! 😂
@marcoarment your hard work in building your business has given you the opportunity for this commute.
@marcoarment I heard you talk a lot on @atpfm about driving on the beach, but I always took it as a mild exaggeration. But you actually drive ON THE BEACH 🤯
@marcoarment Awesome! I've heard you talk about it so many times that I wondered what it actually looks like. Thanks for posting!
@marcoarment I’m really confused about the licensing - I think maybe I missed that episoide… is it just a limited number they give out?
@peterdash Yes, and with a full-time-residency requirement as well.
@marcoarment what’s the protocol for people walking on the beach? Bummer to have noisy dangerous cars in one of the world’s normally peaceful spaces. (I get that it’s a legit transportation need where you are. Still…)
@marcoarment how fast do you cruise at on the sand?
@ericf Usually 15–20 MPH, depending on conditions.
@marcoarment Very fun to see! How did your beach app work out?
@marcoarment nice and stable Video, kudos to the suspension?
@CrucialTK Kudos to my arm and the iPhone video camera.
@marcoarment wow - so much faster than I expected after imagining it whenever you discussed it on ATP! Good to put a visual to the stories though!
@marcoarment this is why we buy Defenders.
@mo Totally. (Although I’d never drive — let alone park — THAT close to the water!)
@marcoarment in my defence, the water wasn’t there when I parked it 🙂
@marcoarment Is this a 2 lane beach?
@dnaunton Depends on the day and the hour! It naturally varies from 0–8 lanes, and you never know quite what you’re going to get.
@marcoarment good way to keep an eye on anything escaping from Plum Island
@marcoarment where do you commute to?
