I have tried to like oatmeal. But it never excites me. I want to have a couple bowls a week, at least, so I decided to go savoury.

I treated it like polenta or grits — I added milk with water. But first I toasted my steel cut oats in a teaspoon of butter until fragrant. I finished it with cheddar cheese, butter, & green onions, saved half the green onions for the top. Other garnishes, a small tomato, salsa verde, 1/2 avocado, 2 poached eggs, and 2 strips of bacon. #breakfast #food #cooking

@snarkysteff I think I'll try a version like this but I have to say I'm really unsure if it will float my boat.
@Jenarbo Totally understandable! But it’s an option to try and then you know.
@snarkysteff Can I infer from the fact you posted it that it was successful and you'd do it again?
@kdmurray I think I will, yeah! I feel good after eating it and I have a lot of energy, so that’s great. Toast is still my ride or die, but having this once or twice a week would be something I can adopt as a healthy grain alternative.
@snarkysteff at this point you could just leave out the oatmeal and have a very nice breakfast!
@snarkysteff You've ended up with a deconstructed omelet on top of some oatmeal! Just pour some maple syrup on it and you'll have the whole breakfast buffet! Bon appetit!
