Isn't this just a docker container
@SwiftOnSecurity This is exactly how typical #Devs work.
@TheTomas @SwiftOnSecurity if someone sent you a java class, and not all references or sub-classes it wouldn't be helpful, now would it. Kidding, reality is they ain't got time to track down some shit; water needs to fall.
@SwiftOnSecurity a docker container would have four tiny wheels underneath so you can pretend it's a car
@SwiftOnSecurity worst multistage build I ever saw
@SwiftOnSecurity Yikes, and I was worried about people cutting off my catalytic converter...
@jab01701mid @SwiftOnSecurity but now you're worried about owning a surprise convertible?
@SwiftOnSecurity Nah, that'd be the whole car (if you're lucky! maybe the whole scrapyard!)
@SwiftOnSecurity Is there an organization responsible for giving toots awards because I'd like to nominate this one.
@SwiftOnSecurity it even comes with a single pane of glass for observability
@kieran @SwiftOnSecurity Am I allowed to wield this any time a product owner comes to me about a "single pane of glass"?
@SwiftOnSecurity Reminds me of this.
@brain @SwiftOnSecurity the number of times I'd have liked to beat someone to a pulp for "it works on my machine" back in the late 90s...
@emag @brain @SwiftOnSecurity I always found the key to be that you had to follow up quickly with "so, let's find out what makes our machines different!" Too many support/dev folks used "works on my machine" as an end to conversation, rather than a start to SCIENCE!
@ftp_alun @brain @SwiftOnSecurity invariably it was "only checked in half the files that were changed". This was in the bad old days of CVS...
@brain @SwiftOnSecurity I like to believe that docker was invented after an angry sysadmin had this conversation.
@brain @SwiftOnSecurity "and on that day - Docker was invented"
The “Works on My Machine” Certification Program

Joseph Cooney had a brilliant idea for a new application certification program. But Vista’s bland white-on-gray badge, in my opinion, doesn’t properly communicate the... authoritative... nature of said program. With the help of Jon Galloway, we zazzed things up a bit: You might think attaining such a prestigious,

Coding Horror
@SwiftOnSecurity this is me copying code I want surrounded by code I can get rid of. You can just comment out the roof bit, right?
@SwiftOnSecurity I once got a sunroof replaced under warranty and the "warranty bill" was almost $5000, this definitely goes a long way to explaining why. 🤦
