my house is full of cat toys and the only ones he'll touch are ponytail holders and the crinkly plastic rings that seal the tops of plastic bottles
@ian Don’t forget boxes.
@travelingflwr oh yeah that's true, he does like boxes
@ian @travelingflwr my cat is the same, but hopefully he likes his scratching post.

I have some photos of mine here (since it was easier to share them with the friend that gifted him to me):

@eriol @ian OMG!! Adorable. I have a couple of favs (bunny ears is one for sure). You are as bad as I am with pet pics. I have so many.
@eriol @ian Our cat also had a fascination with luggage.
@ian My cat's favorite toys are balls of paper and lengths of shoelace.
@ian same, absolutely -nothing- is quite so interesting as a crumpled receipt for my kittens
@ian Those milk jug rings are gold.
@ian same energy - preferred sleeping place vs provided opportunity. That box has been there for 3 years now.
@ian I have the same problem with sleeping spots -- I have a wide variety of cat beds (one heated!), but the best feline sleeping spots are still the geometric middle of my bed and that piece of cardboard I've been meaning to pick up off the kitchen floor.
@ian Meanwhile our new cat will play with ANYTHING. Hairtie, shopping bags, a piece of art I have hanging up above the cat tree....
@ian what is it with cats and plastic?
@dc540 i think it probably makes a fun noise? that's my guess anyway

@ian @dc540 yes, and also, lots of plastic products are coated in things like cornstarch or stearates or other tasty animal byproducts!

I've seen a theory that some plastics also have chemicals that mimic pheromones in them but idk how accurate that is.

@ian yeah, honestly this is why we've stopped buying toys for our cats - they like the rando shit we drop or leave around way more anyway 🀷
@ian and faucets that are doing a slow drip
@ian story checks out! 😹
@ian mine only want feathers, crumpled balls of paper, and string. I can live with this.

My cat loves to wrestle so I put on a welding glove.

@ian Our kitty Ripley likes ponytail holders and these teensy lightweight balls, possibly for the same reason: she can carry them in her mouth and drop them on our faces while we attempt to sleep. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01C2NLVBY/

@ian when I had a cat, he absolutely LOVED those plastic rings. But his favourite game was playing jump/fetch with balled-up sweet wrappers
@ian my tiny human plays with all the past rejected cat toys, and then the cats are suddenly interested.
