I’m curious to know why people who are posting here continue posting at Birdchan as well. Mastodon becomes more useful as people are persuaded to drop Twitter and come over here instead.
Here's the problem. By continuing to be active on Twitter, you're giving people there less incentive to move here. As a result, the value of Mastodon is sputtering along at a lower level than it should be. And those of us who have moved here start to think about going back to Birdchan.
@dkiesow@dankennedy_nu I've been pondering the same question. From what I can see, I worry the line for many heavily dependent users is "does it stop the site serving the purpose it always has for me", and that would see almost anything forgiven.
@dankennedy_nu I'm convinced that anyone with follower numbers on Twiter in 5 or 6 digits is understandingly reluctant to leave such social capital behind, especially knowing that the user-base on Mastodon is still much too small for them to expect rebuilding a comparable klout here.
@dankennedy_nu You also have to ask how many people on Twitter have their other foot in Post, waiting for that to be fully functional. I think it’s too soon to panic, but in the end, the fragments of Twitter may not come together in just one place.
