1. Use and follow hashtags! Hashtags are a LOT more important here than they were on Twitter, and are how you search for things. I noticed an immediate increase in people engaging with me as soon as I started putting hashtags on my posts.
2. If your app allows it, follow servers youโre not on. I use Toot on iOS, which lets me basically pin servers Iโm not on (tbc)
@MJM717 โฆand look at their local and federated feeds, and itโs how Iโve found a lot of the people Iโm following now.
3. Definitely look at both your local feed (home) and your federated feed - that lets you see what people are posting on servers that connect with yours, and a good way to find interesting people and discussions.
Iโll be honest, it took a good few weeks of actively looking for content and interesting people before Mastodon clicked. But once it does? Itโs amazing
