@MJM717 Tips for creating an interesting feed and finding new people!
1. Use and follow hashtags! Hashtags are a LOT more important here than they were on Twitter, and are how you search for things. I noticed an immediate increase in people engaging with me as soon as I started putting hashtags on my posts.
2. If your app allows it, follow servers you’re not on. I use Toot on iOS, which lets me basically pin servers I’m not on (tbc)
@MJM717 …and look at their local and federated feeds, and it’s how I’ve found a lot of the people I’m following now.
3. Definitely look at both your local feed (home) and your federated feed - that lets you see what people are posting on servers that connect with yours, and a good way to find interesting people and discussions.
I’ll be honest, it took a good few weeks of actively looking for content and interesting people before Mastodon clicked. But once it does? It’s amazing
