"Actually, studies have shown that riders using pedal-assists—a type of e-bike that amplifies your pedal power but does not take over entirely—get more exercise than those on regular bikes, because they cycle longer and more frequently.”

Hell on Two Wheels, Until the E-Bike’s Battery Runs Out

In 2020, Americans bought more than twice as many electric bikes as electric cars. Patricia Marx test-drove a fleet of them, including a Vado SL and a Gocycle G4i.

@TheWarOnCars I feel this study is inaccurate. who were the subjects? If I used pedal assist, I would get way less exercise

@TheWarOnCars @darylcognito I’m sure your anecdotal evidence is much better science than this study.

Have you read the study, or do you just want someone else to do the work for you?

@Trine_DK @TheWarOnCars

do you think this is twitter or something? It was a comment, an observation. Not here to do a shit load of research to have conversation. I didn't present proof nor did I demand it.

The only way to address climate change is to consume less, Electric cars/bikes, imo, are just a way to get us to consume more. Capitalism is not compatible with reversing climate change

@darylcognito @Trine_DK @TheWarOnCars
Dying from cardiac arrest will make you consume less. So just stay at home, enjoy your couch.

E-bikes make more exercise, which gives a longer life.

@tuekappel @Trine_DK @TheWarOnCars yet the mining for th minerals puts ppl I poorer countries at risk due to environmental poisons and conflict, pollute water and air. You can't consume different and expect anything to change. End capitalism, buy less, travel less and go for a walk, it is good for your heart.
@darylcognito
So lets end all electric machinery at this instant. Have a good time pedaling your car to work. I ride 2x13k every day on my singlespeed. So piss off.
@tuekappel You missed that right turn at Albuquerque, Twitter is the next data centre over.
