I made a tiny sewing machine! It’s a Christmas present for my grandma, who loves sewing and quilting. The model is roughly 1/6th scale and mostly made of basswood, finished with acrylic paint and various metal bits. I based my design on a real vintage Singer model from the 1920s.

@racheldeesmith Looks like the one my granny had. ❤️
@racheldeesmith it’s so adorable! Santa’s elves themselves couldn’t make a more perfect gift for a quilter
@racheldeesmith love it. I learnt to use a sewing machine on something very similar.
@racheldeesmith my 90 year old aunt still has a working one of these, belonged to my grandmother, they are very ornately decorated, not worth a lot as they were mass produced to a high standard of workmanship but still can't put a price on memories
@racheldeesmith I could not love this any harder
@racheldeesmith that’s beautiful! What a thoughtful gift.
@racheldeesmith amazing!! I am sure that she will love it.
@racheldeesmith I have the same sewing machine (the real one, not the miniature!)
@racheldeesmith well that's incredibly lovely! You've done an excellent job on it! 💚🧡🤩
@racheldeesmith what is that a sewing machine for ants!
@racheldeesmith You made this? It’s adorable. Your grandmother will love it.
Hell, I love it and I don’t even sow ☺️
@racheldeesmith That is so cool. You are a gem.
@racheldeesmith You did a great job creating this miniature sewing machine!
@racheldeesmith Not only a great gift idea but also very nicely executed!
@Crystalsea how cute is this?!?! 😭 💕
@sylphrin OMG TOO CUTE!!!!! It almost looks functional too ☠
@racheldeesmith I learned to sew on a very similar machine my grandma owned! She started me on one like this because it was slower than her pro machines.
@racheldeesmith oh that's so lovely! 😍
@racheldeesmith Well done. My mom had one of those, the electric-driven version from the 1930s, that she sewed on all the te. One Christmas she sewed matching western shirts for me and my dad.
@racheldeesmith that is absolutely beautiful!
@racheldeesmith such talent - that is stunning
@racheldeesmith wonderful, my grandmother had one. I have the cast iron table base with the treddle and the cute wooden drawers but not sure where the machine ended up. My father made a new wooden top for the base.
@bushbark @racheldeesmith I think Lehman’s still sells a machine that will go in the old cabinet. I do almost all my sewing on an old treadle. Off the grid quilt and clothes making!
@racheldeesmith beautiful. You’re so talented!

@racheldeesmith

My mother had one, from her mother, circa 1930...😃😃👍

@racheldeesmith ok but WHERE CAN I BUY ONE??
@racheldeesmith Let me know if you sell those - I start planning for next Christmas on Dec. 26th 😃
@racheldeesmith That's some fine work, btw! ❤️
@racheldeesmith This is beautiful! I love it. The treadle I use is so much like it.
