I’m just curious. How many times have you gotten covid? Once? Twice?
@kathygriffin Zero. I'm careful in every way.
@SFGreek @kathygriffin No kids? lol I was super careful in every possible way too, then they let kids back in school, with in a few months everyone in my house had covid.
@fratm @kathygriffin Nope, no kids -- that helps a lot.

@kathygriffin

0 times personally.

One of the c-suite I'm in the same ecosystem as, has had it FOUR TIMES as of last week.

@kathygriffin Zero. 😷
@twirlyboy @kathygriffin Those "not being an idiot" also get COVID. Mask up all you want, get vaxxed, avoid public places, but when you have to go to work and have school-aged kids, it's pretty hard to avoid.
@JustAnotherJay @kathygriffin Actually, it's not.

@twirlyboy @JustAnotherJay @kathygriffin I got COVID at work

The only way to have avoided it was to give up that income

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how smart you are if you are put in unavoidable circumstances

@JustAnotherJay
😠 It would be easier to avoid if people took it seriously and thought about others.

@twirlyboy @kathygriffin

@zarabethgeorge @JustAnotherJay @kathygriffin 100%. Unfortunately we're all governed by those more invested in their political careers.

@zarabethgeorge 1000% this. Sad that some people think it's 100% avoidable. Real life dictates otherwise.

@kathygriffin

@kathygriffin @JustAnotherJay @twirlyboy wear a mask at work and make your kids wear masks too.
@twirlyboy @kathygriffin
I had it once I'm not an idiot, actually have 4 vaccines and still use a mask everywhere.
Please don't.
@Andres @kathygriffin Obviously not 'everywhere.'
@twirlyboy @kathygriffin yes, I used it everywhere inside and outside buildings, I was on quarantine for 8 months.
@Andres @twirlyboy @kathygriffin yup, same for me, can do every reasonable precaution but unless you go far beyond reasonably living a cautious life it can still get you, such is the stuff of having to live a life sometimes.
@Andres @twirlyboy @kathygriffin forgot to add I have an auto immune condition that made it much easier to catch, even after all the vaccines, masks and precautions. And I still need to earn a living so cannot hide from the world.
@bethmckinley @twirlyboy @kathygriffin
There are many many reasons one can catch a viral infection, many are out of our reach to avoid it.
@Andres @twirlyboy @kathygriffin four vaccines and two masks most places. Tested negative so I am guessing zero.
@twirlyboy @kathygriffin This thread feels oddly β€œTwittery” with the whole β€œPerson 1 says all of X people are stupid” pattern followed by the classic β€œNo they aren't!”, β€œYes they are!”, β€œNo, They aren't!”. It's like being 8 years old again. Keep it up!
@mattematica No doubt! This thread has produced my first block on Mastodon.
@twirlyboy @kathygriffin zero that you're aware of. You can still be an asymptotic carrier. Also try to be more kind and remember never having caught covid requires a lot of privilege and luck. Like the privilege to not have to work in a hospital, the privilege to be able to work remotely, the privilege to have access to decent masks, etc
@greg @kathygriffin @twirlyboy my brother worked specifically with people with severe cases through the entire time, accompanying the very ill on small evacuation plane flights to hospitals. He was so busy he didn’t have time to get vaccinated, but he wore (and still wears) a mask. He never caught it. So, no privileges, just did what so many people think is too hard.
@greg @twirlyboy @MexicanYenta @kathygriffin
I was super careful early on, but I’m not so careful anymore and I haven’t gotten it. A friend is not careful at all (slept in the same bed with his wife both times she had it) and he’s never gotten it. It’s not just about being careful. Some of us seem to be less prone to get it. Blaming people who’ve gotten infected without knowing their situation is not really fair.
@kathygriffin Zero. Alllll the boosts and still masking.
@kathygriffin As far as I know, never. Nor has anyone in our family. (Which, last I saw, puts us in a range of 5–20% of people in the UK.)
@kathygriffin Once here (that I know of). My wife is still at zero.
@kathygriffin Once. But because it was after being double-vaccinated it just meant for me several days of feeling pretty crappy, and after that back to normal.
@kathygriffin None so far, and knocking on wood to keep it that way. Long Covid is my literal nightmare.
@kathygriffin Officially just once. No tests I've done since have turned out positive.
@kathygriffin Twice, three vaccine doses so far. First time was rougher, this time around it felt like a mild flu. Very mild.
@kathygriffin Twice. The second one was just a few weeks ago and was much milder than the first one.
@kathygriffin Twice that I know of. The first time was at the very beginning, thought I was going to die. The second was after having three vaccinations, with zero symptoms (thank gawd).
@kathygriffin Never, but I did get pneumonia which was not a walk in the park.
@kathygriffin I'm still one of the lucky ones that hasn't got it yet. At least I've never tested positive though others in the same house have been sick with it.
@kathygriffin Once... And long covid POTS still recovering... But just once and up to date on boosters.
@kathygriffin I've had it twice for sure, and i think a third time but I didn't test positive.
@kathygriffin I'm finally getting rid of my first covid infection. It was a Thanksgiving gathering "gift." I'm sitting out Xmas this year b/c that was just too much of a present.
@kathygriffin Twice. I had what I know to be covid in January 2020. I had never felt that bad. Took me 3 weeks to recover. Got it again this past September, but luckily my husband and are are vaxxed and boosted and our symptoms were very mild. We only felt unwell for a couple of days. We still wear a mask if we go shopping.
@kathygriffin once, which really was plenty. Thank god for the vaccines! Was triple boosted which made it much easier to deal with.
@kathygriffin Never tested positive, but I am also twice vaxxed, twice boosted, and bivalent vaxxed.
@kathygriffin
Once. Had been v careful but son caught it at school and I caught it from him whilst nursing him.
@kathygriffin just the once, super mild thankfully
@kathygriffin - Zero. I work from home, I am fully vaxxed, but I don't go out much, masked in public when I did go out until late summer 2022 & recently started masking again. No one in my household (all of us at increased risk) has gotten it so far. (Knocking on the nearest wooden object!!)
