So you don’t like #Chabad or perhaps dislike #OrthodoxJudaism. I get it; people have reasons. But what to do about it? Vent, tell people that they are wrong? I’m not here to change your mind about your #Jewish denomination. Just realize that #socialmedia sways us into #groupthink, makes us feel like we empower “our” group by belittling others. But that's not helpful. Here's a positive way forward based on love that can bring all Jews closer together

@mazeldon

So you don’t like Chabad, or perhaps dislike Orthodoxy. What then?

Merrimack Valley Havurah

@JewishConversations @mazeldon what I find hard about this is when I see orthodox folks telling women rabbis that they’re not really rabbis, or converts to other denominations that they’re not really Jewish. Or when Jews of any denomination assert that any criticism of Israel’s current secular government and policies is antisemitism. And it’s hard to plan joint religious events with a group that wants to keep men and women celebrating completely separately when my Judaism is very egalitarian and inclusive.

This is not to say I don’t try to reach out and understand others, but the piece seems targeted at how the non-orthodox need to reach out, rather than everyone engaging with mutual understanding and compassion.

I hope people share this: Here we see Conservative, Reform and Orthodox #Jews studying #Torah and #mussar together in #Brookline, Massachusetts.

We should encourage our local Jewish community leaders to do the same - Torah, #Mishnah, Talmud, #Maimonides, Mussar, are our common inheritance. With good will any community can create opportunities for cooperation, spirituality, Talmud Torah, and communal strength.
