@wen @ACM +1 to all of those questions. When choosing an instance, the set of people on the instance matters much less to me than the moderation policy (to encourage a healthy, inclusive community).

I'm sure you're busy seeing things up and were planning to get to it, but just in case... the Mastodon link in the https://www.acm.org/ page footers still point to https://noc.social/@TheOfficialACM . Yes, that site _does_ indicate the account has moved, so a diligent user can, with some persistence, verify the authenticity of this account. So you might want to update that link,

@ACM This is exactly one of the unique benefits I've been telling people about Mastodon. Since anyone or any organization can create and instance, and links it on their webpage, you get an automatic user validation. Only computing professionals would pay for membership and them they get a validated id on the global town square. It's a win for absolutely everyone except companies and speculators wanting to monetize human community.
