An oligarch, a fascist, and a homophobe walked into a bar...and then he was joined by jared kushner and the qataris.

This is probably another good time to point out that in #Qatar (which has a *ridiculously awful* history of human rights and environmental abuses) being gay is illegal, but it's perfectly fine to have 3 wives, two of whom are your first cousins! #WorldCup #GiveFIFAaRedCard
@Incognitim
So, one thing I have leaned in the multiple decades I have been on this planet, is that humans can justify ANYTHING.
@Incognitim And absolutely nobody seems to be enjoying themselves. Evil AND unhappy. It must be horrible to be them.
@jojannekevdbosch
Seriously. Those holes in their souls can't be filled with wealth and power, no matter how hard they try.
The cameras cut to Macron a few times after goals, and he's cheering and jumping around. The qataris all around him didn't display *any* emotions. At all. Why even go to a soccer game if you don't like the sport? Oh yeah- to show how rich and powerful you are..
@Incognitim Just look at all those free speech absolutists!
@Incognitim REMINDER: CEO is the highest ranking member of a PUBLIC corp. Owner is the highest ranking member of a PRIVATE co.

@Incognitim you are right πŸ’―

@Incognitim @spandauAnders Suggested #AltText Jared Kushner, Elon Musk, & an apparently high-ranking Arab man I’m too lazy to look up & identify (possibly MBS?) look out from a balcony beneath which an all-male crowd parties hearty at the Quatar World Cup.

#Alt4You

@gorfram @[email protected]
Did I not include alt-text?? 😯😬😣

Also, I don't believe mbs was there. I said Saudis, but I think it was mostly Qataris.

@Incognitim @spandauAnders IIRC from when the photo was first published, the trio was identified as Kushner, Musk, & MBS. But I might have misremembered, & MBS is not someone I recognize by sight.

@gorfram @[email protected]
There was a LOT of talk about those three around that time, because of how sh!tty & interconnected they are (this was also when musk said he would step down as CEO, and there was a lot of speculation that the Saudis told him to).
But I think the bigwig with them is Mansoor Bin Ebrahim Al-Mahmoud, CEO of Qatar Investment Authority.

Also- for some reason, I can't tell if pictures have alt-text or not. Do I need to add it to this one? I try, but sometimes forget... 😣

@Incognitim What makes this worse is the abject conditions and poverty that built the infrastructure for the #2020WorldCup in #Qatar . How many people died so that the richest man in the world (and everyone else who wished) could enjoy the games? https://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2021/feb/23/revealed-migrant-worker-deaths-qatar-fifa-world-cup-2022 #indenturedServitude #modernSlavery #humanRights #capitalism #worldCup
Revealed: 6,500 migrant workers have died in Qatar since World Cup awarded

Guardian analysis indicates shocking figure over the past decade likely to be an underestimate

The Guardian
@IanStuart Truth πŸ’―.
The human and environmental toll of that world cup was tragic and catastrophic. #fifa is the absolute worst sporting body, and that's saying something.
