The Washington Post should stop engaging with Musk, create its own Mastodon instance, encourage its journalists to use it, and think of creative ways to engage with Washington Post readers in the fediverse.
@heidilifeldman and the same should be done by any news companies, and organisations. Break the cage!

@heidilifeldman

i think they are all kind of in bed together...

they are going to go down with the ship, all under the guise of sticking up for democracy.

when all they are doing is propping up hate.

@heidilifeldman I believe there was a recent newspaper article describing how to "get started with the Twitter alternative Mastodon." This might be a good starting point for the Washington Post to read this article. πŸ™ƒ

A guide to getting started with Twitter alternative Mastodon

How to get started on social-media site Mastodon, whether you're leaving Twitter or just looking for people who have.

The Washington Post
@heidilifeldman yes. Every MSM should start their own instance here plus establish a presence on Post and other newcomers that have a good shot at success. This new TOS is a BIG sign that Twitter is hemorrhaging users. Big accounts need to leave now.
@heidilifeldman would love to see every media outlet run it’s own instance.

Before Thursday's ice, I kept looking for a #CapitalWeatherGang Mastodon account. They need to move here! #wapo
@heidilifeldman @cortney we are mirroring @capitalweather and sometimes direct posting. Sorta reevaluating social a bit like many I suppose.

@heidilifeldman

I am one and would very much welcome it in a saner world.

@heidilifeldman

If the WP took that action, I believe other originators would follow the example. They've been the bellwether so often, this is their chance to show the path once more.

@heidilifeldman is WaPo a legit news source? I've seen both sides.
