Hey @scottrstroud I am a UT colleague in Classics. I am moving to a different server and it is faster to just refollow ppl. But search doesn’t bring up you or the media initiative. Please follow [email protected]. So I can follow back! Thanks!
Hi folks! I was having a lot of trouble finding academic friends—history, classics, medieval studies, religious studies—on other servers. When I figure it out, I’ll move this account. In the meantime, I’ve tried to follow a bunch of you from the other instance. I’m [email protected] Feel free to follow that account (I follow back).

FAMOUS: Finding Archives and Manuscripts Across Oxford’s Unique Special Collections

I last seriously used Twitter in 2015. I completely missed the explosion of users, and everything else, that Trump’s Presidency produced. I’ve spent the last few months studying the social media landscape and trying to decide what I think. Twitter is fine for academic stuff (if people are there). Most large communities won’t leave Twitter until it is literally offline, from what I can tell. Mastodon has strengths and weaknesses. I am going to try to use this for academic stuff only.
Think he’ll actually step down now as Twitter’s CEO? I actually think so, but only because he’s miserable trying to do that job and failing so badly at it.
I might have done all but stocking stuffers Christmas shopping in 90 minutes this morning. Too bad I have work to do for the rest of the day.

Elon Musk was always a visionary jerk, bad boss at SpaceX, Tesla. But it won't work at Twitter.

Elon Musk has used the same playbook at all of his companies from Tesla to SpaceX. Sadly for him, his model will cause Twitter to go down in flames.
