checking out the federated tl to see folks who joined 12 minutes ago explain mastodon to folks who joined 6 minutes ago
relax, you don't need to understand mastodon. i don't and i'm fine
@sugar Honestly most people don't even understand how *twitter* works, and that's okay.

@sugar

It is true that understanding a thing can sometimes remove all pleasure from it; and therefore I do strive to misunderstand Mastodon at all costs γ€œβ (κ’ͺ꒳κ’ͺ)β γ€œ

@IridisSparks @sugar

Once a week, I find one random poster who joined at least a week after I did, and I send them a generic mean, context-free message in capslock to get myself blocked. As a treat. I usually alternate, "What are YOU looking at?!" with "What was THAT supposed to mean?!"

@sugar Just have faith in John and he'll make sure things work out for you
@sugar no worries theres help for that

Mastodon documentation

Welcome to the Mastodon documentation!

@sugar Yeah, I don't understand mastodon either, I just push random things until a post I like appears. Then I start typing incoherent garbage...
@sugar I just click the icons next to the things/people I like/agree with a random, seems to working just perfect so far.
@sugar I totally agree. I don't know anything about anything, and I signed up and have been using Mastodon for 6 weeks.
I am not some techie pretending I don't know anything, I am your clueless mom or grandma. I can't set up my voice mail, I regularly disconnect my phone, I don't use scan to pay, I place my online orders by phone, I thought "gfy" meant "good for you" and have used it in texts. I have no idea how to list or how hash tags work. But I post and boost and it's fine. Welcome!
@sugar it's like drinking a warm cup of your favorite coffee in the middle of the street.
@sugar I've been here a month. Explaining it IRL is much easier than over text. I use the analogy of interconnected islands.
@sugar It's much like Seattle in that respect. A "mossback" is anyone who has lived here 10 minutes longer than you have.
@sugar live every day with the confidence &c.
@sugar best laugh of my day! Thank you.
@sugar Teaching is the best way to learn!
@sugar I resemble that remark!
