Do I have this right…conservatives love free speech for Elon Musk, but hate free speech for Colin Kaepernick?
@rbreich Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
@matir @rbreich I would say generally common amongst fascists. Not limited to Conservatism. But the right seem to be leading the charge in that area right now.
@matir @rbreich I think it’s simpler than that
@rbreich Introduce yourself to @JohnMastodon, he truly is prophetic.
@walflour @rbreich @JohnMastodon The posts will have you laughing all night. Someone created a John Mastodon on the bird site and it was literally suspended hours later. 😂 This most definitely is a moment in time.🤣
@rbreich they're for free speech, but not free speech. It's not hard to figure out.
@rbreich if you approach conservatives with the understanding that they have zero idealogical consistency, things still don’t make sense.
@rbreich
Isn't it funny how hypocrites ignore hypocrisy?
@rbreich Just assume everything they say is a lie and it will all be much clearer.
@rbreich you know it’s really sad that an athlete that took the 49s to the superbowl was basically a nobody wants. Then in Florida descant is says woke people are the enemy. So woke to me means you are awakened to systemic racism in our society. Maybe I’m wrong. I actually never heard the term woke until desantis rallied against it.
@rbreich yep. Sounds about white. 🤷🏽‍♀️

@rbreich of course

Musk is the boss. He gets the free speech.

Kaepernick is just the employee on the NFL plantation. No free speech for him.

Especially not when his work is involved.

@rbreich yes you have it right, because this is a fascism regime take over that’s been going on now for 6 years (much longer). But let’s keep pretending this is entertainment and it’s not going to get worse if we don’t mass protest and boot them out, making it disgrace to be fascist and root it out of our culture and our political system. Facism has no place in a country that stands for freedom for all. Not freedom for fascist boot lickers. Your grandparents didn’t die in WW2, or develop PTSD or sacrificed their wellbeing for it to be the norm in the states.
@Thales @rbreich my great grand father didn't die just so we can destroy our once great nation. The problem isn't musk. Its the leftist media that complains about fairness and equality, yet spreads messages that brainwash its viewers into thinking extremism and racism is the root of our problems. You sound like one of those people. Doxxing is not okay. Free speech comes with reasonable limits, but if you're menacingly and knowingly attacking the opposition, you deserve to be banned.
@marinino_69 Stfu and go back to Twitter, your masters need more boot licking to make them nice and shiny. You’re not welcome here soci. No one cares to hear your gaslighting, nut job drivel.
@rbreich the premise is a lie. Musk is putting all the weight on his politics. It’s completely his stage. There’s no equality of speech. Why let yourself get gaslit by his utter bs?
@rbreich "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." - - Francis M. Wilhoit
@killfile @rbreich conservatism can be summarized by one single word. “Selfishness”
@rbreich he’s a far right mogul obviously making twitter his mouthpiece to promote his and his powerful friends’ special interests. No mystery here. All the rest is gaslighting.
@rbreich If republicans were engaged in serious-minded discussion of free speech, I could see your confusion.
@rbreich nail on the head. Conservatives also believe that leaving your country because you fear the government, so you wish to come to America, is bad and people should stay in their own countries. But if you tell them you don't like the US government, their response to you is "then leave, you're free to go somewhere else"..... Go figure
@rbreich Succinct and to the point. Thanks for bringing this up.
@rbreich Of course. Being a member of the GQP requires cognitive dissonance like that.
@rbreich people are only interested in protecting free speech that they agree with - conservative or liberal.
@rbreich And the more money you have the more freedom of speech you get from the GOP. So says SCOTUS Citizen United
@rbreich That is par for the course, yes!
@rbreich Point of order. They call themselves conservative. They're not conserving anything. Not tradition, not money, and most certainly not the planet, nor the people. They're right-wing radicals, and the sooner we call them what they are, the sooner we can rid ourselves of these turbulent priests of propaganda.
@rbreich I would rather you refer to that group as "far right" than conservatives. I think a lot of prominent conservatives support his right to dissent.
@rbreich yes and no. They’re not conservatives. They conserve nothing but bigotry. You’re right about the other stuff
@rbreich I would say America has always been that way…
@rbreich There’s no theoretical logic to the conservative view of free speech because it’s primarily just another weapon to help them attack their opponent (Biden and the Democrats). It’s definitely not about logic or principle.
@rbreich they’re all so ridiculous.
@rbreich Every time I hear conservatives talk about "freedom of speech" I feel like I'm watching one of those old commercials where Ronald McDonald promotes healthy eating to kids.
@rbreich They who violate the U.S. Flag Code in their use of the flag in their advertising, decorations, clothing, and who don't obey the rule about not letting any flag fly higher than the U.S. Flag have a hard time seeing any person and especially a Black person not stand. They don't see it as a cry for justice. They don't understand kneeling is the ultimate respect. They do not understand he at first sat and began kneeling to respect the flag, veterans, and those who died defending U.S.
@rbreich They do however understand and value the wealthy as they seek to become wealthy themselves. And they really like it if the wealthy seem to be against those whom they disagree with.
@rbreich They are for their own free expression. Not for anyone else's.
@rbreich Conservatives love free speech! but only if they agree with what's being said.

@rbreich

yep, you got it right. They're so indoctrinated!

@rbreich They also like "mean tweets" from trump but think anything Biden posts is divisive. Even pictures of Commander.
@rbreich “All tweeters are equal, but some tweeters are more equal than others.” — Elon ‘Napoleon’ Musk
@rbreich Everything for me and not thee.
@rbreich "rules for thee, not for me"
@rbreich
Yeah, you got that right.
