Nobody I know complains about not being able to find workers or having to wait an extra 2 minutes for a pizza or finding a repairperson as fast as they want more than Republican voters.

They also blame everyone and everything imaginable except what the reality is.

Trump, covid slowed down immigration. Now employers can’t find workers:

@TonyStark
And the GOP knew and ignored this

@TonyStark More and more I'm finding it's not about the issue for the right, but about whatever issue can be effectively weaponized against Biden and the Democrats.

Reality has become secondary to the battle.

@Gleng2 You’re right about that. I’ve been able to make some headway on a one-on-one level with a few people based on going over facts repeatedly but as a whole, they reject them. I keep trying anyway.
@TonyStark I hear you. If it were just about the facts we might have a chance. Been picking up a lot lately from a book I borrowed from my dad's coffee table, a huge Trump fan. The stuff in there is astounding. While there's a lot of propaganda on the "issues", it's essentially a "how to" on how to pick the "messages" and how to use them to take down the enemy. There's nothing about principles. Just what can we point out as wrong, convince them we can fix, and effectively use it in attacks.
@Gleng2 Cripes. I haven’t had any success with really hardcore Trumpers, but a few who voted for him in 2016 and always voted Republican. The COVID denial, insurrection, election denial, and the whole deal about demolishing Social Security and Medicare along with the racism at least drew a line for a few. Not enough but a few.
@TonyStark @Gleng2 It is crazy that he stil enjoy his freedom, almost as he is above the law.
@adde @TonyStark It is. He's very good at evading prosecution; even now using his candidacy as a "shield". Very strategic.
@Gleng2 @TonyStark /agree - Then again, justice and law should win over strategi. He has done so much damage to this world, it is hard to even start to comprehend it.
@Gleng2 @TonyStark American CEO hate freedoms we have
@TonyStark The solution to our current economic crisis is more workers, not less. The real immigration crisis at the border is naked racism.
@CaptMorgan @TonyStark Racism is behind the Republican anti-voter stance, anti-immigration stance, and many if not all of their anti-human stances.
@TonyStark Same as in Canada. The issues that drive the pathological anger of the dangerous, vocal populist minority don't even have to be true. They just have to be repeated enough times to give them the illusion of truth. And all being initiated by political opportunists, Christo-fascists and the political entrepreneurs whose job it is to create these myths and strategies. Huge swaths of the population are being grifted and they don't even know it
@TheWolfe Sadly yes, it’s a worldwide problem now.

@TheWolfe @TonyStark

The DSM describes several disorders that entail being caught in fantasies that are just too satisfying to pull out of, and bring yourself back to reality.

I hypothesize this is what has happened to the MAGA crowd (and its counterparts in other countries). The rightwing bubble spreads BS, but it makes these people much happier than reality—which would explain why they’re so impervious to facts.

@TheWolfe @TonyStark why it’s critical media and influencers intentionally deconstruct — not simply negate, the false claims, as that actually reinforces the lies https://www.topospartnership.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/FSB1_Negation_16May2018.pdf
@TheWolfe @TonyStark
Robert, what's the possibility that many of them do know it but it fits and confirms their already established mindset? I consider it "intentional ignorance."
@TonyStark I mean, COVID DID kill like a million+ Americans. But no, that cant be why employers struggle to find help. Nope, it's the lazy millennials!
@TonyStark Republicans kill the economy every time.
@TonyStark
2 comments; 1. Labor participation is down due to long-covid & dearth of (affordable) day care options.
2. It's always about the rhetorical battle for the regressive-right.
Folks employing the race-class narrative framework are successfully pulling persuadable people into the center-right pro-democracy coalition.
It'll take a bit for the key orgs doing that work to set up shop here. @jenancona is 1 of the leaders (https://www.waytowin.us/).

@TonyStark not to mention they support a party that doesn’t want to pay a livable way, make health care affordable, protect social security and Medicare, but they think people can somehow live on bootstraps. Like it’s everyone has the same opportunities they had, cause that’s how society works.
@TonyStark
Just like in the UK, where in our case, brexit and Suella Braverman have combined to discourage workers from outside the UK. So vegetable and fruit crops rot in the fields, the NHS is understaffed etc. Right wing thinking lacks humanity and common sense. It just does not work.
@Melinda That’s an excellent observation and too true. Anti-immigration movements in the United States are tilted against anyone who tries to enter certain areas that doesn’t easily assimilate into whiteness. It makes no sense economically as jobs that are essential go unfulfilled, and it exacerbates hate.
@TonyStark
The irony is that those who wanted brexit are not at all keen on filling the field work jobs. They complained that the 'foreigners' were taking their jobs, but did not see that they were doing the sort of jobs that they would never want anyway! Crazy.

@Melinda @TonyStark #Brexit was a mistake driven by fear and those who benefit from a weaker Europe a.k.a. #russia

I hope the britts have the will and dedication to wrong this one day, we would love to have u back. 😍

@adde @TonyStark
Spot on. Outside influencers played a big role. They even appear on Russia Today. It's so obvious. 'Rejoiners' will not give up though, sadly the media here ignores our marches etc. Our broadcasters are biased, you find out more about the state of affairs in Britain from outside broadcasters like CNN.
@Melinda @TonyStark it’s exactly the same here. Implications for the future are not considered. They’re consumed by the past and live only for today. No thoughts about the future. Short-sidedness is a trait in their way of thinking. Self-righteousness and hypocrisy as well. I wonder if their brains are wired differently than someone’s who has even a smidge of common sense.
@KayVay @TonyStark
I agree, they are a breed apart. Profits are their obsession, but their actions often have the opposite effect, and countries wither. No planning either: brexit was an ideology not a proper thought through strategy with a road map to plan and build on.
