Ok I’ve been here for a couple weeks already but never did a proper #introduction

I’m Dani! I’m originally from #Boston but moved to #DC 4 years ago. Currently I’m a boring government #attorney but used to work as an #EMT until I moved here so still interested in that world. Interested in #transit #trains #wmata #mbta #urbanism #nintendo #news #politics #dcpolitics #mapolitics #bikeshare #tech #sports #hockey #baseball #bruins #yankees and #trashyrealitytv

@Dani Did you get to drive the ambulance when you were an EMT?
@CitizenCabe yup! Once you learn the ropes you spend about half the time driving and half the time focused on patient care in the back. Most crews (assuming neither partner is new) either switch off calls or split the shift in half.
@Dani I used to be in the Army and now I'm a boring corporate attorney, so I understand the benefits of the exciting job to boring job pipeline.
@CitizenCabe at least when I was in Boston and I swapped to the boring job I kept the fun job as a per diem side hustle. I don’t like to say who I specifically work for on here but if you ever have any questions about or issues with your VA benefits I might know a few people… 🫢

@Dani I don't right now, but tell your friends that I'm hugely grateful for the GI Bill.

If I had used to drive an ambulance, I bet I'd miss the siren sometimes.

@CitizenCabe sometimes yes but I actually took a pretty conservative approach to using lights and sirens. One thing that I think most people don’t realize is it’s actually mentally exhausting to drive with lights and sirens. Normally when you’re driving you just go with the flow and traffic lights serve as mental breaks. When you have lights and sirens going you are “on” for the entire drive.
@CitizenCabe but yes sometimes it could be fun, especially with the right playlist 😂
@Dani I love trains also. Looking forward to seeing what you share about trains!!
