WSJ: "Activity on Twitter’s ad manager, a subdomain of Twitter’s ad platform sites that specifically hosts those creating or monitoring ad campaigns, declined nearly 74% in October from a year earlier, according to the firm’s data. In November, visits fell 85% on the same basis—the largest ad traffic decline since Twitter’s change of hands."

Twitter’s Advertising Truth Hurts

Elon Musk is leading with narrative at Twitter. Don’t lose sight of the dollars and sense.

The Wall Street Journal

Musk seems committed to building an Ad Free Twitter

@jonahstein Oh dear. Now there is the pithy, wicked humor I used to go to the fowl place for. Glad to see I shan’t be completely cut off.
@whetstone every community has their own standards but some things transcend the differences.

@jonahstein @mmasnick @joshsternberg He cannot possibly believe any sub model will raise even a tenth of the ad model he's killing.

And with his debt on Twitter, he can't afford Twitter to shed users -- a 100% sub model on 10% the purchase user base leaves him so far underwater...

@jonahstein @mmasnick @joshsternberg
his herculean effort to become the world's second wealthiest person by the end of the year is going well too.

@jonahstein @mmasnick @[email protected].

I'm starting to think Musk wants a mob platform to target enemies, much like Trump was using it.

@jonahstein @mmasnick @joshsternberg interesting comment. I have noticed a much lower level of ads! Mind you... every ad I do see I just mark it as one j don't like. Whatever the reason my feed is nearly ad free.
@joshsternberg wondering where he’s getting the money for the interest payments.
@heyokayo @joshsternberg Bone saws and bone saw accessories

Hate, contempt, and grievance are not good for your brand. It wasn't even a tough decision. Community standards and content moderation are business basics.

@joshsternberg

@joshsternberg idk about using SimilarWeb for this...
@joshsternberg Sounds like keeping the pressure on advertisers is the way to go.
@joshsternberg Dude that can't be right cause Elon sez everything is just peachy!
@joshsternberg Good news. Also, expected to see this happening.
@joshsternberg no idea what the relevance is and the article is paywalled 🤷‍♂️
@joshsternberg It's all about monetizable daily active users, not the metrics the Celebrity CEO touted in the past. I owned Tesla stock for years (full disclosure, I recent bought shares again) and listened to his quarterly presentations and he always sounded like a stoned 18 year old who talked about science fiction rather than facts, and he lied a lot, stating sketchy postulates self-driving theories as if they were facts. I know think maybe he wasn't stoned but rather a lying psychopath.
@joshsternberg Sounds like progress to me. With all the hate and disinformation being pushed on Twitter I find it hard to believe that any reputable company would want to advertise on it.
@joshsternberg it’s because #Elmo doesn’t need advertisers, he has MBS money.
