My husband took this photo in 2020, it shows Comet Neowise over the Longstone at Mottistone on the #IsleofWight.
We have wonderful dark skies here which really helped. We made the walk up to the neolithic monument late at night which was really magical. I was given a torch and duly light painted the Longstone with it whilst my husband snapped away.
We had our teenage son with us and once we had the shot we sat down and stargazed. #StandingStoneSunday
@sharongascoigne that is beautiful Sharon. What a lovely family experience.
@MoodySilvs Thank you. Yes, it was great to get our son out and see him appreciating the world around him.
@sharongascoigne Oh my that is magical. I need to re photograph all my sites now in magical light :)
@Nick A great excuse to visit them all again Nick!
@sharongascoigne I hope you sell prints of that picture, it really is magical.
@Nick Yes we do, it always makes me smile when someone chooses it.
@sharongascoigne On your site Orion over Castlerigg Stone Circle is also magic, you must post it one Sunday!
@Nick I forgot that was on there! Love the Lake District.
@sharongascoigne Your site has quite a few stones, should last you a few Sundays! Then you need to get him to photograph more!
@sharongascoigne absolutely beautiful. I have a story of magic to tell about the Long Stone, you might both enjoy. Coming soon.
@sharongascoigne That’s sounds like a good night to me. The picture is wonderful, thank you for sharing it.

@wolkigundheiter It was pretty special, thank you.
@sharongascoigne
Cor, much clearer than the fuzzy streak we saw. Remember it well, such a strange year
@ancientsounds I think it was a stand out highlight of an awful year!

@sharongascoigne wow! What a photo, and a lovely story to go with it. ❤️
@sharongascoigne stunning! The absolute beauty of nature
@sharongascoigne I sat in our pasture and watched it. My view wasn't as grand, but still an exciting event for sure.
@sharongascoigne It looks marvelous, congrats for the capture! 📸
@sharongascoigne Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.❤️

@sharongascoigne

Beautiful separation of the ion tail that always points away from the sun, and the dust tail which follows it's orbital path. ☄️

@sharongascoigne this is an awesome picture.
@sharongascoigne Beautiful.

@sharongascoigne
Fantastic! Thank you 🙏
@sharongascoigne
Great! I love the night sky. 🌌
@sharongascoigne We so once wanted to buy a property on Isle of Wight and move there but at that time pets had to undergo a 6 month quarantine to do so and we didn't want to do that to our animals so we ended up in Canada. Still dreaming of the island though
@wakeup It's a lovely place to be. I have a couple of friends who have emigrated from the Island to Canada.
@sharongascoigne - beautiful! #CometNEOWISE was the gift from the heavens at a horrible time in 2020. This is the picture my son took in the #Everglades. The green dots are #fireflies
@sharongascoigne Beautiful! How long was the exposure to get that shot?
