@AtheistIntelligence To (badly) paraphrase a bit I saw going around recently - no one should have to live in a closet, but if it is safer for one to be in there I will guard the door.

I live in a country where it isn't safe for people to be out, so I make sure to drop hints to let people know that I am an ally, and they are safe with me. I'll guard that fucking door with my life.

@attilakinali I don't either. From what I do with secular activism it usually comes down to fundamentalism religious ideology. But that's what I see, I'm sure there are a lot more reason why people are bigoted.

@AtheistIntelligence it's crazy that in a so-called modern society that this question even needs to be asked. Maybe one day people will grow up & realize that people are just people. All should be treated with the same respect without making distinctions for w/e reason.

@AtheistIntelligence Mastodon is already pretty damn safe for LGBTQIA+ people. As a queer person, I say let's make it safe for people of colour, because currently it isn't, and let's keep it accessible for people who use screen readers, because that's under pressure since a lot of the most recent influx of new Mastodonians don't add image descriptions.

@AtheistIntelligence All I can ever claim is that I always try to be an ally. Whether or not I actually AM an ally is for to LGBTQ people to evaluate, not me. But if they call me an ally, I take it as a great compliment and high honor.
