It seems important that the immediate past President of the United States and the likely Republican nominee for President in 2024 has called for suspension of the Constitution. We cannot ignore the normalization of such an outrage. Every news show should be focused on this.

@alceawisteria @ifilljustice yes he is back on Twitter. Musk had a stupid "poll" asking the people of Twitter whether Trump should be reinstated. After he spent nearly 3 weeks attempting to chase every reasonable person off the site. And still barely eked out a majority in favor lmao.

Anyway Trump is on Twitter & the screenshot is cropped so it's not clear (to me anyway) that this is or isn't on Twitter (as opposed to Truth Social).

I'm of mixed feelings about focusing too much attention on Der Drumpfsterfeuer's tirades and antics.

In terms of newsworthiness all things related are just more dog-bites-man child-has-tantrum aimed at keeping his name in the news.

It's all more of the same and much of a muchness fueling The Great Grifting Outrage Machine so he can keep separating fools from their money.

I think the appropriate response is a paragraph on an inside page next to the mugshots.

If anything justifies suspension of the Constitutional rights of someone, it's the promotion, support and justification of insurrection by the former President. Sufficient evidence is now public. Arrest and hold him!

@ifilljustice I don't agree that the news shows should amplify this (him) by endlessly discussing it now. He has always bragged about the free publicity he gets from the media. News media should take note of what he says and when the time comes & the election cycle is heating up, make sure to hold him accountable.

Right now the most important news is whether he has broken the law, whether he was (or still is) illegally holding top secret docs & the pertinent evidence.

From now on, journalists should include the descriptor ("who has called for the termination of the US Constitution") whenever Trump is mentioned.

Unfortunately, there is far too much cowardice in the news media.

Too many media outlets are afraid of stating uncomfortable truths, truths that might offend the powerful or the public.

Telling the truth is not always a “neutral” act.

Journalists (and others) should still TELL THE TRUTH.
