Bad news—it seems @Twitter just updated its misleading info policy that #COVID19 misinformation will no longer be enforced. The 11k accounts that were suspended under the old policy will soon be restored. Twitter's data shows 11,000 accounts were suspended under the #COVID misinformation policy— with almost 100,000 pieces of content were removed since 2020.

the only science related #CommunityNotes currently getting through are flat earth debunking … which kind of miss the point, but that's another story.

@drericding Elon will be Elon until something catastrophic happens and it is linked to him.
So many workers fired, especially in security, seems thought out to satisfy an economic and, possibly, a conservative agenda. Divide and conquer. Who will people trust if there is a deluge of misinformation? The ability to organize any meaningful "opposition" will be severely reduced.

Some have said don't secede the messaging gains, however when you can't determine the truth, is the battle worth the amount of energy required to hold the line or push back?

@drericding @mikey at this point, the best outcome is to depart Twitter and let it stew in its own echo chamber of lies and disinformation. The advertisers will leave and we can just let it fail financially. Don't see any other viable option given current leadership. Mastodon as a distributed system is a better long term model and has the opportunity to truly create a global news and communication platform that can not be controlled by any one oligarch, government, or bad actor
