Q:

When the club soccer coach tells your teen to “hit the gym” what is he supposed to do? He def wants to bulk up!

I welcome suggestions that take into account:

- His high school lacks a gym
- Our family doesn’t belong to one and he’s barely 16- too young to become a member on his own
- We live in a city row home w limited space

Buy equipment for his room? What?

@SaraGoldrickRab Have him check out Darebee (https://darebee.com/) - it has a ton of free fitness guides and programs including many that require no equipment
DAREBEE - Home Workouts

2300+ home workouts, FREE workouts, exercise programs, monthly challenges and fitness guides.

@SaraGoldrickRab I use the exercise progressions at startbodyweight.com, which require almost no equipment.
@SaraGoldrickRab First suggestion: ask the coach. There may be options s/he assumes you know about.
@JenProf I’d really like to. He’s extremely hard to connect with. Will keep trying!
@SaraGoldrickRab body weight exercises and kettle bells. You can do a tremendous amount just on those pieces.

@SaraGoldrickRab just gonna jump in and say (agree, mostly) that bodyweight & dumbbell/kettlebell exercises are the way to go; low cost investment for the gear and all you really need is space

resistance bands are a great option too!!

hope that helps; looks like you've got a lot of great advice already 😀
