The #stay movement on Twitter seems futile to me. He owns the company, is actively antagonizing everyone that isn't a conservative, and will use sustained or increasing Twitter usage to prove to investors that his moves are brilliant.

This isn't like Trump where you can vote him out of office or elect senators to check him. And if mocking elmo was effective enough to stop him, we won't be in this mess in the first place. He wins as long as we *need* Twitter.

Resistance Twitter Is Mutating Into ‘Stay’ Twitter

Now that Elon Musk is welcoming Donald Trump back to Twitter, some liberals feel they can’t leave the platform behind.

On the other hand, I miss John Boyega 😕
@ankaracode feeling this more and more. And his posts are continually at the top of my feed when I do check in, despite not following him.
@someone @ankaracode I don't follow him either, but of course his posts are always there in the algo. Everytime he mentions how much daily usage is up, I cringe. He's thriving off this chaos.

@ankaracode

i wish people would understand this.

the longer they stay, the more they help him.

you can't beat the owner of the shop, you can only take your business elsewhere.

i'm still trying to convince a few accounts to move over, but honestly, i think it is time for me to move on from them.

maybe they need the drama, maybe they are afraid of losing numbers, afraid of starting over...

no idea, but i'm done with musk.

@ankaracode folks don't like change... In addition MANY have an emotional connection to the app. Old Twitter had changed lives, given people opportunities. Many of us had been there for a LOOOOOOONNG TIME... including me. But I totally feel the same way you do! I'm OVER IT. 🙄
@ankaracode Yeah, pretty much agree. I think the advice in that article not to actually delete your account but just not to use it any more is sound, just in case Twitter recovers one day, but I'm not planning on using it much from now on.
@statsguy @ankaracode I go on there purely to promote mastodon, posting links to the Mastodon app. The trick to not provide him with free content & instead put out content w/ some sort of value on Mastodon. If only more celebrities & politicians would to leave Twitter. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mastodon-for-iphone-and-ipad/id1571998974
‎Mastodon for iPhone and iPad

‎Mastodon is the largest decentralized social network on the internet. Instead of a single website, it’s a network of millions of users in independent communities that can all interact with one another, seamlessly. No matter what you’re into, you can meet passionate people posting about it on Mastodo…

@ankaracode At this point the only way you can #stay is if you tolerate the new Twitter culture and environment. If not, it is healthier to leave and opt for a decentralized alternative. Mastodon and ActivityPub come to my mind.

That's pretty much what right wingers did in 2018 after conservatives were culled out of mainstream platforms. If people defined by their sense of "Conservatism" can make that jump, so can the Left.
