#EduToot #EduTooter Does anybody know some research I can use as a starting point into how to effectively feedback on lesson observations?
Eg. I seem to recall 'grading' lessons is outdated and not a done thing to do, where has this come from?

@RjSmith

Here's an article that talks about some of the research. It mentions a bit about both sides: https://kappanonline.org/grades-versus-comments-research-student-feedback-guskey/

Grades versus comments: Research on student feedback  - kappanonline.org

Are comments on student work superior to grades? It depends.

@MrsAdamsTech I've been too succinct. I'm talking about the feedback a teacher gives another teacher after observing their lessons. What's the research informed good practice for that process?

(I've just seen something I'm a bit horrified by, that's why I'm asking around!)

@RjSmith

Maybe something like this study? https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_reports/RR2558.html

Or something from one of the studies linked here: https://schoolretool.org/big-idea/teacher-to-teacher-feedback

How Do Teachers Respond to Feedback?

Education leaders across the United States have revised their policies in an effort to enhance the quality of teacher evaluation measures and instructional practices. A unique survey asked teachers about their perceptions of the feedback they receive and the evaluation systems at their schools.

@MrsAdamsTech this is awesome thanks. Seems to be a balanced view to inform myself with. #EduToot rocks aha!
@RjSmith for coaching the teacher on instruction or student feedback?

@mguhlin this looks like the type of process I'd be hoping to see in schools! Now the tricky question. Where's the evidence to show this supports teacher improvement and therefore student outcomes....
@RjSmith Glad you asked! Listen to my response https://www.voxer.com/v/c0502d756a
