Let's talk about sleep...

Who sleeps well most of the time?

Who sleeps less well than they'd like most of the time?

I have noticed that half-decent sleep is the absolute bedrock of better mental health and better self-regulation.

If I'm sleeping, then I have a fighting chance of feeling how I want to feel.

The trick can be to actually be able to sleep the way you want and the amount you need.

I am super light sensitive. In the summer, I might struggle to get more than 5 hours' sleep...I know if there's a lamp on two floors down, sometimes. Blackouts don't always help.

In the winter, I have to use a SAD lamp to get me going in the morning so that I'll be tired enough to go to bed later.

I do find that having a rough bedtime with some sensory joy and dog cuddles has been very useful in helping me get the sleep I need, though.

What about you? Is there anything particular that you've found beneficial?

@thequirkybraincoach

I've had a lifelong struggle with sleep. I never got enough of it as a baby, kid and teenager, and then when I started to sleep more hours when I reached my twenties, I don't awake feeling refreshed. Nothing I do helps, I'm just tired all the time.

Four hours of sleep? I awake knackered.
Nine hours of sleep? I awake knackered.

I've been to the doctor about it, but they say nothing's medically wrong with me. So I guess I'm just stuck like this 🤷‍♀️

@Jessica @thequirkybraincoach I feel this way if there was something disturbing my sleep.
I can only sleep in a few precious T-shirts luckily Good pyjamas are easier to find.
The temperature has to be correct, I have to have the right pillow bed sheet and blanket.
I generally sleep with earplugs but would be nice if I didn’t have to.
Close and bunch the curtains to block the light.
If I miss one of these I won’t feel rested but I do a good job of getting them all
@indianautistic @Jessica @thequirkybraincoach I did pink noise cuz earplugs hurt my ears.
