toxtethogrady@mikebabin @Jojofromjerz I couldn't do that. Musk banned me (or maybe it was Andy Ngo who did that), so I lost all that functionality. Still doing the hit-or-miss approach, looking mostly for journos and lawyers (and recognizable experts at stuff...)

And doing all the worst things possible - like jettisoning the credibility of the Blue Checkmarks in favor of making them a profit center by turning them into a subscription service. It is not for nothing that I refer to Twitter as a "pay toilet"...

I think one can either search or paste URL of their full monicker. Or look at those you are following to see who they're following. At the bottom of their profile it has a link (hope this helps?):

Benjamin Detenber@Jojofromjerz Hey, Jo. Nice to see you here instead of the bird site. Are you looking for academics? Then try folks at mastodon.sciences. Journalists? Then try journa.host. There are a number of curated lists that can help. Finally, did you try debirdify? It's a great app to help find people from your Twitter feed who are also on Mastodon.
Baudi@Jojofromjerz the easiest way I’ve found is to use https://fedifinder.glitch.me/ it looks up matches of your Twitter follows and exports them in an excel sheet. Then you can just import them in Mastodon by going to Preferences > Import/Export > Import > upload file.

#Fedifinder is a little glitchy because so many people are using it (I think they just upgraded the server). There are backup servers listed at the bottom of the page. It seems to be OK now. And you can use it over and over again as more people migrate, just keep merge importing.
Also follow hashtags in the browser app, posts with those interests will show in your home timeline, and you will find others to follow that way too.

JohnLudiMusic@Jojofromjerz I've been doing it manually so far; going on Twitter, doing a search for Mastodon and limiting results to people I follow. I have not found that many yet, but it's only been just over an hour or so. You may want to use the "Send Invitation" feature on here.

Heather (she/her)@Jojofromjerz the way that has been easiest for me, is to search the hashtags of things I'm interested in. Mastodon is very dependent on hashtags.

I have found going to the search box and putting in some common names in brief like "Scott" brings up a dozen or two choices. A few I recognize, I add. Once you are in the loop, more start coming up in your feed.
There's no simple way. Although I hear there is an app to pull your followers list from the Bird Site that Shall Not Be named.

Try to search "Mastodon" or #twittermigration on your twitter account (before cancel it). Limit the search to your circle to discover all the people announcing the move to Mastodon (I could recover 70% of my contacts in this way). The problem is with people still didn't open an account on Mastodon
