@conradhackett Distinguishing between mustache with sideburns vs. mustache with muttonchops is exactly the kind of detail I appreciate.
@MMGirlfriend @conradhackett on the other hand, not distinguishing between full beard and chinstrap feels like a big oversight
@conradhackett how can you post this without illustrations
@conradhackett Now I understand, I graduated in the 90ies 🤣
@conradhackett not that I'm doubting the impact of this valuable analysis, but how does someone get funding for this research? And have they published a paper yet? Because it looks like it would make good reading.

@conradhackett Why are they even called #MuttonChops ?

Welp... nobody knows exactly. People are weird! But would you accept instead an article about why they're called #SideBurns

Today I Found Out
@tob @conradhackett the sideburns were styled like mutton chops in 19th century England. Thanks to huffpost for this other chart
@conradhackett that Full Beard and Chinstrap are grouped together is offensive to me. 😂

@conradhackett

Will be interesting to know if the pockets of Mutton Chops in the early part of this century have been replicated in the last 14 years

@conradhackett There's a chart for everything. 📈
@conradhackett from which coutry(ies) is the data ?
In France no men currently wear muttonchops or sideburns, but it seems that 75% of 20-40 y.o. men have small full bear 🧔‍♂️
@conradhackett It seems we're headed to Austin Powers style
@conradhackett Goatee or Van Dyke? If we're going to differentiate between side burns and mutton chops, this seems like it should also be differentiated.

@conradhackett Si vous vous posez la question de la pilosité de vos ancêtres, observez le graphe du post ci-dessus 👆

@conradhackett This really made me remember this website: https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/ every time man
WTF Happened In 1971?

https://inflationdata.com/articles/2022/08/10/u-s-cumulative-inflation-since-1913/ "I don't believe we shall ever have a good money again before we take the thing out of the hands of government, that is, we can't take it violently out of the hands of government, all we can do is by some sly roundabout way introduce something that they can't stop." - F.A. Hayek…

WTF Happened In 1971?
@conradhackett South India is perpetually in the 70s
@conradhackett I would love to read some serious analysis (or even wild speculation) about the precipitous drop in clean shaven look in the 63-73 period, and its steep resurgence thereafter!
@conradhackett learnt a number of beard style terms here, thx
@conradhackett huh… I would have thought more mustaches 🤷🏻‍♂️
