I've enjoyed Mastodon in short bursts but have found it difficult to really engage with and stay present in. I have an account at bluesky where you can follow me: https://bsky.app/profile/paul.urbanmonastic.org

So far it feels more natural for me. I really am enjoying it.

You're invited to join me! Today I'm streaming the Urban Monastics Gathering. It's only an hour with Vepsers, Eucharist and a conversation.

We're using our own UM Translations for the liturigies (which are on screen for you). Hope you can join us at 20:00 Paris/Berlin.

Stream it live or later on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuMcLNuhzIc

Some days it feels much more difficult to pray & hope for peace. May peace and justice reign on earth as in heaven. May Prigozhin never get his hands on political power in Russia.

So what did the gospel authors do?
They put the spotlight on women being the first to proclaim the resurrection!

Never has there been a more important message, & God chose them. All I need to know! I will gladly listen to, work with, and give space for people to teach. There is no gendered requirement.

The apostle Paul (+ the letters attributed to him) are important to the Church. Let's not forget that the gospels+acts were written later. Our early believers expected Jesus to return in their lifetimes. After decades, the narratives & teachings of Jesus were written for us.

It is very reasonable to assume that portions of these texts were selected and written to correct things the authors saw going on in the early church. To correct things that Paul may have been unclear about or wrong on.

Interesting time of year to ask some simple questions.

Is there anything greater than God's love for each one of us?
Is there anything that love cannot overcome?
Is there anything the Grace, animated by that love, fails to redeem?

The questions we ask matter. Jesus loves you.

Have you ever wondered what goes into bible translation? It is a complex process that will vary slightly based on context and purpose of the translation. To root this piece, I speak directly to the work of creating the Psalter for the Urban Monastic Divine Offices. I hope you learn something new, and get a deeper appreciation for the important work of scripture translation.

Translating the Psalms for a Book of Hours - Paul Prins

Translating scripture is a complex process. I pull back the curtain on the translation process of the Psalms for the Divine Office. From sources to some of the complexities involved in this interpretive process.

You may have heard the term Mystics before. There is a tradition of #Christian #Mysticism going all the way back past the start of the church. Let this brief overview introduce you to this wonderful tradition.
