“I alone can fix it” didn’t work in the White House, and it didn’t work at #Twitter.
@georgetakei It almost never works, and doubly so in tech.

Bullwinkle's Hat Trick 2

@gwync @georgetakei In my experience, if the boss doesn't understand the tech, he assumes it's both unimportant and easy to support.

@gwync @georgetakei

I disagree, there are lots of times in the tech world where literally only one guy knows how to fix the problem and that guy is on vacation.

@georgetakei you are my favorite follow ❤️
@georgetakei Perhaps the kind of man who says that leaves the disaster behind him thinking that he really did fix it.
@georgetakei Guess ruining it was the fix he had in mind all along
@georgetakei hooray for malignant narcissists! Nothing is ever their fault and they alone can save us all.
@ErinSandersNP @georgetakei Describes both umph and birdie lord.
@georgetakei it definitely isn't working. On the upside it has show us exactly what kind of human being Elon Musk - I am now quite please I can't afford a Tesla.
@georgetakei every day a new low at #twitter
@mrax @georgetakei My favorite was today when the guy in charge of security badges was fired along with many others. They couldn't get out of the parking lot without working badges, and bird lord and his presumed execs couldn't get back into the bldg. Never put a business major in charge of technology.
@georgetakei make Twitter great again
@echopapa @georgetakei Or don’t. Realizing it was a pretty toxic and awful place before Space Karen.
@georgetakei now he wants to fix @Mastodon and get even with deserters.
@HighTechWriter @georgetakei @Mastodon Clueless rich people wrecking things they toouch like giant toddlers reminds me of the '80s #SNL restaurant sketch with the rich middle easterner (#JohnBelushi) saying to the people dining at the next table "How much for your cheeldren? How much for the leetle girl?"
@georgetakei Never a doubt that Elon would break his toy. Wasn’t that the purpose after all? His ego could never fathom otherwise.
@SunshineG @georgetakei - The irony is, if he had just stuck to rockets and EVs, and focused his energy and resources on those two things, his reputation would have survived (and improved) and he would be a lot more successful.
@georgetakei Indeed, that seems more like "I alone can break it."
@georgetakei I have to laugh when I see wretched poseurs using that line in earnest, because I know *I'm* the only one who can fix it.😆
@georgetakei
Even evolution got hip to the power of groups. It changed from survival of the fittest individual to survival of the fittest group.
@georgetakei But it DOES look like he alone can break it!
@georgetakei I feel like it's got something to do with decades of Hollywood action flicks featuring (dramatic trailer voice) "a lone hero who's also a loose cannon but he gets the job done"
@georgetakei @chloetse For sure—which itself is born out of a right-leaning belief in the power of an individual unconstrained by rules that got baked into the American zeitgeist early and deeply.

@georgetakei

Strangely, "I can ruin it alone" seems to work.

@georgetakei "I alone can fix it" really only works for personal growth.
@georgetakei Fortunately it does not work anywhere, right?
@georgetakei It takes a team effort to fix something, but only one to ruin it.
@georgetakei
We seem to have a tendency to bestow godlike status on the rich. We can imbue them with powers far beyond their capabilities and once they’re tested they demonstrate just how mediocre they really are.
@georgetakei - Nothing like setting your reputation, and $44 billion on fire.

@georgetakei do not count Elon and Twitter out. Elon is an intense character and can make stuff happen.

We will not like Twitter as much because of Elon's authoritarian views. Like Trump and many billionaires Elon is positive the USA will run better once Democracy is diminished.

@georgetakei Hope Wendy is all good. Press briefings are still great Karine does an amazing job.
@georgetakei Agree, solutions especially if looking to get buy-in from across the populace needs to be collective ones sourced from many talents. The time for alienation has passed.
@georgetakei It's not working in Florida either. People are priced out of their homes and abandoning their pets. It's all very sad here.
@georgetakei #trump and #musk are the embodiment of “I don’t need to stop for directions!”
@georgetakei and doesn’t work anywhere, ime.
@georgetakei That only applies on one’s own life perhaps
@stux @georgetakei I dunno, it often takes quite a bit of help outside yourself to fix yourself.
@georgetakei there do seem to be a few glitches arising at the old site...

@georgetakei the great thing is, Elon had shown the world how great social media can be without corporate ownership and algorithms. The best way to 'fix' Twitter right now would be to allow it to federate with Mastodon and let the users decide on where to go.

#mastodonlove
#ElonMuski
#antiCorporatist
#NoAlgorithms

@georgetakei “I alone can destroy it” works quite well.
@georgetakei hi George! Glad to see you on Mastadon!
@georgetakei He can’t fix it but he sure can destroy it.
@georgetakei particularly fitting, given that neither actually wanted the job.
